Covid insurance for freelancers: We’ve partnered with Indeez
2020 was a tough year for much of our freelance community with huge concerns due to the lack of stability created by the Coronavirus pandemic. Whilst we can’t provide protection from the virus itself, we’ve now made steps to help protect our freelance community’s income should they be unlucky enough to contract Coronavirus.
The first Covid insurance package for freelancers
That’s why we’ve partnered with Indeez to create #CoviSure – the first insurance package for independent workers who are unable to work due to Coronavirus. It will be available to our UK and France community for just £11.99 a month (€10.99 a month in France).
This partnership has been announced following our recent research survey of 500 freelancers that showed 89% are concerned about losing income if they were to receive a positive Coronavirus test. The survey also found that over two-thirds of freelancers have not had any support from the Government since the start of the pandemic.
Currently, freelancers and the self-employed have no entitlement to Statutory Sick Pay, which means that many will be left without any income should they contract the virus. With #CoviSure, PeoplePerHour and Indeez will ensure freelancers are financially protected mitigating income loss and providing peace of mind for independent workers while they take time to rest and recover.
The innovative income protection policy, underwritten by Chubb, will pay out if a freelancer is unable to work due to hospitalisation following a positive PCR test for Covid-19. Subscription to the 3-month protection has a low monthly cost with the product offering a lump sum benefit of up to £6,000 / €6,000.
Xenios Thrasyvoulou, Founder and CEO of PeoplePerHour comments:
“We take our responsibility to our freelance community very seriously. Partnering with Indeez to offer the industry’s first Covid cover specifically tailored to their needs, is another great step towards achieving our mission. Indeez has put together a highly accessible and flexible monthly package that we believe will be crucial to our freelance community, giving them the confidence that they and their income are covered during this difficult time.”
Vikas Chhariya, Founder & CEO, Indeez:
“The lack of availability of income protection for independent workers needs to be urgently addressed by private and state actors collectively. At Indeez, we believe that with #CoviSure, we are building a pan-EU, cross-industry coalition, that will stand to empower independent workers in their everyday lives. What we do in Europe, we hope will be a model for other regions of the world”
