Team

We love what we do and come to work every day hungry to change the world of work!

Meet Team PeoplePerHour. We’re a quirky bunch, but we all share the same core values: we’re passionate, energetic, committed and gutsy! Most of all we believe and celebrate our cause: empowering people to live their dream.

Our full-time team span the globe; from London to Athens, Manilla to Hyderabad and more! The best bit? Whenever we need a helping hand, we can turn to our ever-growing PeoplePerHour community to hire one of thousands of skilled freelancers around the world. They help bring PeoplePerHour to life and are full of great ideas as they use the site, contributing to the magic every single day!

Xenios Thrasyvoulou

Founder & CEO

Born on labour day Xenios has been tasked by cosmic forces to disrupt the labour market. He started PeoplePerHour in mid 2007 manually micro-brokering small projects between business and freelancers using pen, paper and a phone (occasionally email too!).

Today, 700K+ lines of code later, the site serves over 1m people worldwide, and Xenios has gone from pen % paper to being on BBC News, Bloomberg, Wired, Forbes, the Financial Times, and many more, as a thought leader in the burgeoning freelance / on-demand economy.

When not working (which isn’t very often), he blogs , paints, visits Art galleries, cooks a messy meal (more often than not too close to burning his place down), plays sports or watches movies. He holds an MA & MEng from the University of Cambridge and did a short stint at Harvard Business School – enough to convince him never to do an MBA!

Simos Kitiris

Co-founder

I have been a part of the PeoplePerHour family from the beginning as CTO although in the early days that more or less meant sitting in a room with Xenios for hours, working our way through a huge ‘take over the world’ to-do list while trying to come up with solutions to a seemingly never-ending list of problems. 🙂

Fast forward a few years and that room was significantly bigger and we were tasked with filling it with talented team to help drive the company forward. I couldn’t be happier about what PeoplePerHour has achieved, helping so many freelancers and businesses across the world on a daily basis, and I am super proud of Xenios and the team who keep growing PeoplePerHour from strength to strength.

I love startups and technology and a couple of years ago inspired by my PeoplePerHour journey I decided to take on a new challenge and founded Yumbles, a marketplace connecting food lovers with independent food makers.

In my spare time I love hanging out with my family and friends and trying (somewhat extreme) sports most people have never even heard of. I (somehow) ended up holding an M.Eng. (first-class honours) from the University of Cambridge.

Tom Fotherby

Chief Technology Officer

Being a founding engineer at PeoplePerHour.com (first full time developer) in 2008, I remember the days where the technical landscape was quaint – where we didn’t use Amazon Web Services, or GitHub, where adding rounded-corners to a button took a hour to do, where being a “full stack developer” was actually normal, rather than the super-power it is today.

Technology is changing fast, things are becoming easier and easier to build, yet user expectations are higher than ever. It really is ever so exciting! I love being a part of it!

George

Senior Web Developer

I’m a Jedi knight with light-sabre mastery that uses the Force to build and maintain the payment systems for Peopleperhour since 2011.

Yahya

Principal Full Stack Engineer

Hello, I’m Yahya, the one who is in love with Javascript. I am really passionate about learning and understanding technology, seeking ways to impact the lives of others. When not coding I am either gaming or travelling, so if you are going anywhere interesting or playing in a party at Dota 2 do let me know!

Juste

Creative Marketing Manager

It takes me ages to find the words to describe myself but, hey-ho, every story has to start somewhere. A writer at heart, I joined the team at PeoplePerHour to find and shape their true voice through captivating content. Forget complex strategies, clever hacks, and guerilla marketing – in the noisy world that we live in today, the only truly effective way to be noticed and remembered is through storytelling, consistently A class content and a flaming mission. Driven by the philosophy that one changes the world by doing, I’m always up to something (usually, something good, like learning or shopping online). But then, I’m Lithuanian, so you never know. If we’re at a party, I’m the weirdo going through your bookshelf. And that says it all.

Aylish

PR Manager

I originally joined PeoplePerHour as a freelancer in 2010 and therefore know first hand just how important our platform is for self-employed people across the globe. Now, I manage the PR at PeoplePerHour and oversee our presence in both online and offline media. I get to tell people every day about the ways PeoplePerHour is changing the future of work and speak to our wonderful community about their inspiring freelance stories.

Kelly

Email Marketing

Known for unprecedented levels of ambition, drive and work ethic, I joined PeoplePerHour to take charge of email marketing efforts. I am in love with the science and maths behind marketing (although my parents would laugh at reading I have taken an interest in those subjects since I got older)! I have a passion for growing things (although I’m not very good at gardening – that’s a job for my husband), testing and experimenting. I like to help people, and show brands how they can stand out of the crowd and be memorable. Like many other members of the team, I am also a parent and have many hobbies (if by hobbies you mean changing nappies). I am what you would call a “girlie-girl” and therefore it is my duty to like make-up and keeping up with the Kardashians! I like to read, learn and explore the outdoors. I love comedy and a little TV show nobody has heard of called Game of Thrones.

Yannis

Product Manager

UX. Agile. XP. Prototype. UI. Scrum. DDD. KPI. User Stories. SQL. Roadmap. SEO. TTM. Kanban. In case they all sound Greek to you, don’t worry; they also did to me some years ago. And yet today, my vocabulary mainly consists of these buzzwords.
My mission at PeoplePerHour is to bridge the gap between Business and IT and lead the Engineering teams towards the implementation of the company’s strategy and vision.
A loyal follower of the ancient Chinese proverb: “Man with one chopstick go hungry”.

George

Data Scientist

Hi there! I work for PeoplePerHour at the BI/data sector, learning and getting in touch with lots of tech, getting to know great co-workers, enriching my knowledge with exciting new stuff! I’m always interested in spending time with tech and informatics and finding shelter in the good company of friends and family.

Shaan

BI Ninja

Hi! I’m a BI analyst working out of London, with a background in maths. I’m always looking for new methods to analyse and present data, and constantly trying to learn new techniques for this purpose.
In my spare time, you’ll most likely find me playing basketball, cooking or eating.

Penny

Product Manager

Hi! My name is Penny and I work as Product Manager at PeoplePerHour.
My mission is to help people live their work dream! Prior to PeoplePerHour, I worked in the Banking sector while earning my Master in Business Mathematics.
When I am not at PeoplePerHour HQ, you will most likely find me playing with my little baby boy.

Meletis

Operations Director

Payments Ninja by day, SuperDad by night. I love my work but I can’t get enough of my family. No matter where I’m at though, I’m surrounded by amazing people. I’m very lucky to be part of this great PeoplePerHour team.

Dimitris

Operations Director

Coffee Master by day, Payments Ninja trainee by night. I am really excited to be part of this wonderful PeoplePerHour team. I love working to resolve any payment processing issue in a timely manner with a keen eye for details. My favourite quote? “To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan and not quite enough time.” Leonard Bernstein.

Akis

Payments Ninja

After years in accounting I suddenly landed in payments and now I have the opportunity to learn more about fraud and grow my knowledge more about different aspects of economics and apply that knowledge on everyday growing business. I recently became a member of the PeoplePerHour team and I am excited that I am a part of a very happy and creative group of people.

Natalia

Interim Manager

My job title is Senior Advisor though I do not enjoy this description. I prefer the term of ‘People Per People’. First, because I came up with this name and, second of all, because I just enjoy helping people. Most of the times I find myself trying to put a smile on people’s faces making then forget their troubles and, if I do not manage to succeed, trying harder until you close your Inbox with a big smile on your face. I have an artistic virus running through my veins which gives me a creative and romantic point of view and makes me very emotional when I listen to Freddie Mercury

Pawan

CS Ninja

I have worked in travel, electronics and IT and spent more than 4 years working as a Call Centre Executive / Senior Agent for US and UK companies including British Telecom and Earthlink (Internet Service Providers) and joined Peopleperhour in 2010 as a Customer Support Agent. In my spare time I love playing with my 3 year old, listening to old Indian melodies and Cricket (watching, rather than playing!)

Ashok

My interests include listening to music and playing cricket.

Maria

VP of Sales

Russian born Londoner with professional background in finance and making hats. Super excited to join PeoplePerHour to help institutions transform and embrace the exciting transformation of on-demand talent!

Katerina

HR Director

After spending 10 years in corporate business settings, I decided to take a turn and immerse myself into a world full of wonders, the world of tech…that’s is how I landed on PeoplePerHour. My job is to take care of PeoplePerHour greatest asset: people. I believe in solutions and in human will. Here, there is plenty of both!

Konstantinos

Web Developer

A disciplined self-motivated web developer with strong team spirit and well-rounded experience in both backend and frontend development. I am efficient in problem-solving and able to teach myself but also learn from the tech gurus surrounding me here. I really enjoy being a part of PeoplePerHour team and I am glad that I can contribute to its success. In my free time, you can find me playing board games, reading history or listening to long-forgotten music.

Theo

Operations Director

I joined the PeoplePerHour family as Operations Director to help the CS & Payments teams answer the growing needs of our users and provide them with a 5 star customer service. Although I graduated in film studies, I never made anything out of it except some nerdy movies. On the other hand, I used my inspiration to find ways to delight customers and provide them with the best support experience possible during most of my professional career. I dedicate most of my free time to my two kids who are by far the most demanding customers I ever had to handle.

Marianela

HR Administrator Expert

Hey! I am Marialena, the new HR Expert. Apart from all my administrative tasks, my mission in PeoplePerHour is to make sure PeoplePerHour employee experience is “WOW”! Ask me anything; probably I won’t know the answer, but I will find out!
Last but not least, a couple of things that you should know about me:
I play volleyball – not that tall I know!!!
When I was little I was constantly saying I would marry Micheal Jackson – did not happen obviously!
I drink my coffee black and finishing it in the morning is mandatory before I can think!

Lilian

Web Developer

Seeking out new technologies and staying up-to-date has always been my passion. I am friendly and enjoy being a part of a team. My keen attention to detail and dedication to solving any problem at hand are what made me join People per Hour. Traveling and meeting new and exciting people has always been my thing.

Haris

Product Manager

I consider myself as someone who bumped into technology by accident and fell in love with it – I am an “all things digital” enthusiast and amazed by the impact that the Internet has on people. After several years in software development, I decided that I had enough with code and started seeking comfort in managing projects and teams.
After office hours, I enjoy making (or trying to make) electronic music, reading books about life, the universe and everything, and being lazy (not necessarily in this order).

Christian

Director of Operations & Product

I come from the cold north but eventually realised that the warmth of Athens suited me better. Even though it might not look like it, I was working when the dot com bubble burst and experienced the highs and the lows. This taught me a lot and I soon realised that technology is an enabler, not the solution itself. I’m passionate about technology and the endless opportunities it creates. And the most exciting thing is that it’s only the beginning.
When I’m not playing around with gadgets I enjoy spending time with wife and friends, exploring the many nice spots of Athens and its surrounding areas. I’m heading up the product and operations team at PeoplePerHour at this very exciting time for the company!

Kostas

Payments Agent

Love to explore systems, countries and meet new people. A social introvert and avid book, comic, graphic novel, series and film consumer!

George

Customer Support Agent

Being years in Customer Support, I am armed with patience and eager to help!”

Chloe

Principal Full Stack Engineer

Hello there! My name is Chloe and I joined the PeoplePerHour Site Reliability Engineering team in May 2021 but have since gotten involved in many types of website development. I love all aspects of technology but am currently really interested in cyber security.

When I am not at work, I spend most of my time with my family and doing DIY. Some of my many hobbies are astrophysics, reading, HIIT training, travelling, hiking, playing the guitar, drawing and dancing.

I’m very happy to be part of the team!
