Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
General information for the website: Online learning tool for teachers in schools, setting their own goals and montioring their own progress towards achieveing those
Database management system (DBMS): MySQL
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Description of requirements/features: Our client is an agency working with a number of further education establishments and want to offer an online tool based losely on an "online coaching" model. This involves users logging in, choosing a cartoon coach (from two preset avatars we provide, no onlie styling), and choosing a Learning Model. Models involve Cycles, each Cycle is a group of questions which must be answered in sequential order.
For example, Teacher A chooses the "Improve internal communication" Model. This begins with Teacher choosing from 2 online coaches - Janet or John - and typing in what they hope to achieve from the Model. The first Cycle then begins, being a set of questions such as "where are you now" and "where do you want to be" - each answered by the Teacher typing into a text field and being able to save their progress at any point to return later. Questions are worded in 2 different ways and these reflect the choice of Coach, and each has a Help button beside it which, when pressed, will give further guidance to help the Coachee to answer the question. Example below:
Question 1 (if Janet was chosen as coach): “How do you envisage your team working collaboratively on a project? Describe how this will look for you to feel it has been successful.”
Question 1 (if John was chosen as coach): “What measurable targets will you put in place to determine the success of collaborative working in your team? Enter the outcomes that enable you to identify if these have been achieved.”
Help button for this question if Janet is chosen will say “picture the team working well, how do you know they are on the same page? What will you hear to assure you that they are communicating well?”
Help button if John is chosen will say “Thinking of the outcome you want to achieve, what tasks will they need to complete to reach this? What evidence can they give you to support this?”
There is no online assessment of answers given, this is virtually an online diary for Teacher A to study their own habits and improve their skills. However, at key stages such as ending a Cycle or Model, automated emails need to be sent to the user and their supervisor to advise of this.
Extra services needed: Installation
Extra notes: We will provide hosting accoutn on Rackspace Linus server, installation required as part of quote.
Full detailed specification available to suitable suppliers on request, before final quote expected, ballpark figure to begin with please. To be considered for the project please provide examples of similar systems you have built, preferred coding method and framework.
