Title:Web logo designer with a quick turnaround
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
ABOUT THE SERVICE
I'm looking for the provider of what I hope is quite a unique service, to help me in launching a line of entry level web sites, particularly for small businesses.
Effectively I need a partner to handle the graphics side. The feature I'd like to offer is a quick and easy bespoke logo service that compliments the quick website development and works like this:
* Our client fills in a questionnaire
* The client is sent 3 rough sketches of possible approaches
* The client selects one and this is prepared to a suitable web resolution and added to the site.
This service isn't (I know) going to be desperately profitable (it may even be a loss leader) and will need a sharp turnaround. However, I believe that my graphics partner can pick up other graphic and higher resolution (print) work from the client as a result - I'm happy just to handle the admin of that for a small commission or pass the client on.
YOUR BID
I need a bright, creative person I can work with and hammer out the best way to do this - the suggested workflow or questionnaire isn't cast in stone. Please THINK about the time this will take and how you are going to make a fair return for yourself. I can't see me being able to charge much more than £20-30 per logo - you may have a view on this yourself - so maybe you'll only have an hour or so of working time to complete the process.
It's a bit hard to see how to ask for bids on PPH for a job like this, so this bid is to produce ONE logo, according to the workflow specified above and not a long term commitment for a number of logos from either side. Subsequent work is subject to our mutual agreement.
QUALIFICATION TEST
A portfolio would be good to see, but bidders must complete the attached exercise - in this case I'm just looking for one of those three rough sketches. Please do no more than that for now - bidders who produce a design to brief will be messaged.
Thanks,
Simon

S. T. on 20/09/2010 14:50Concise, certainly. But not very helpful to either of us. If you can expand, I'll try and answer.
S. M. on 20/09/2010 10:20Sorry, to clarify (as I work with web designers doing something similar - bespoke graphics), are you saying you'd pay he designer for the graphics per site/job? Or are you asking the designer to take on part of the risk of your endeavour?
Also, it seems o me that creating a 'sketch' of such a quickly designed logo would take as long as doing it. How would you be submitting each web proposal? Or is it only the logos that are proposals?
It might be that you consider the designed process an 'add on' feature for clients, where they pay a more realistic price for your basic website provision PLUS actual bespoke logo and buttons etc. There fore you take your cut for the service you provide and the designer gets an actual fee from you.
A basic web site can be replicated at the click of a button once the template is created, but logo concepts are from scratch each time.

S. T. on 20/09/2010 11:57Thanks for your comments Sofia. I understand that a one off logo isn't likely to be terribly economic for a professional designer, which is why I am at pains to explain the risks.
As with the website itself, the base product is designed to encourage more work. For the logo designer, other billing opportunities should arise from other graphics used on the site, letterheads, business cards, brochures and so on. So this is very much an opportunity to showcase your talent and then market from there.
My target market will be very cost conscious initially but as they develop their business, extra work should follow. So this is (to an extent) a gamble that may or may not fit in with your marketing strategy. If it does, I'd be delighted to see your bids.
M. S. on 20/09/2010 10:42I have to agree with Sofia. The timescale you are asking for each logo concept would not be enough and you could end up with 'half-hearted' unprofessional logo.
If you can increase those budgets, you will get a much better end product and more work off the back of it.
Many thanks, Mark

S. T. on 20/09/2010 11:59Mark,
Thanks for your feedback - please see my comments to Sofia. I agree, a design certainly can't be half-hearted if you want to generate more work.
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
