Title:Magazine Designer
Location:Remote
Job Description
We are launching two new quarterly magazines and urgently require a designer to create and manage the complete layout and style for them. The magazines are aimed at a youth market and will be a mix of editorial and news.
To begin with each magazine will only be 16 pages long, full colour, but will grow each issue so we need a template that we can work to for each issue.
We also require the magazines to be designed in Adobe Indesign as that is the standard programme we use.

M. W. on 01/09/2010 17:55 pmHi Kieron,
I'm interested in bidding for this great sounding job. Just a couple of questions:
1. will you be supplying ready-to-place copy?
2. will photos be supplied?
Thanks, Mark.

K. D. on 03/09/2010 12:49 pmhi, in answer to your questions:
1) no, we will be supplying artwork that will come from our customers but will need adjusting and placing with the copy supplied.
2) yes
M. W. on 01/09/2010 17:57 pmand sorry, one more question: will the magazines follow the same template or do they need to be different?

K. D. on 01/09/2010 18:33 pmHi Mark,
In answer to your questions, No I will not be supplying a ready-to-place copy, but photos will be supplied and needed to be placed/adjusted. They can follow the same template, with slight variances.

M. W. on 01/09/2010 18:47 pmHi Kieron,
Thanks for the quick reply. So you would be placing the copy/text/headlines etc yourselves?
Thanks,
Mark.

K. D. on 01/09/2010 18:52 pmNo I need somebody to create the template and place everything within. But obviously I will supply the copy for you to insert in there. :)

I. A. on 03/09/2010 12:22 pmHello Keiron,
Thankyou for your posting.
I have a question for further clarification before I can place a realistic bid.
1. Would you prefer a lump sum bid or per hour with an estimated completion time for completion?
Would you mind taking the time to browse my portfolio and if you like my design style, please invite me to bid on your project. I would be delighted to give you a realistic bid with the prospect of forming a fruitful business relationship with you.
Thankyou.
Ian

Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
