Title:Access 97 upgrade needed
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
I have a mail order system built in Access 97 We have just one computer on which it runs. We need to do two things.
1) Set up a new computer with the MO database and to do this we believe we need a legal copy of Access 97 but we can\'t locate one. We lost the original CD
2) Rewrite the system in a more up to date version of Access or something even with a web based front end
Current system has customer info, order information and generates reports based around tax area for accounting purposes. It\'s pretty simple stuff

M. H. on 02/12/2009 09:35You don\'t need a \'legal copy\' of 97, if you have a newer version of access bought for the full price then you are okay too, in legal perspective it is not about the CD but about the license attached to it.
C. T. on 02/12/2009 09:58Good morning, is this a shared database or a single user? Kind regards, Chris
G. L. on 02/12/2009 10:07Good morning
Is it your preference to have it re-written in a later version of Access or web based ? If web based do you want it web based within your organization only i.e intranet or truly on the internet. Intranet requires a server that supports web pages ( or IIS ) , internet requires a web address and a hosting package. Do you have any of these currently ?
If it is a new version of Access would you want that providing or would you be happy to pay for your own copy of Access ?
Another very helpful rough guide for a bid would be to tell us how many tables, queries and reports that exist in the current system. The Database Window ( hit F11 ) should easily tell you this inofrmation.
Thanks
Graham
G. V. on 02/12/2009 11:56Hi Malcolm
If the current database suits your purpose there is no need to have it rewritten- just buy and install the latest version of Access (currently 2007)- ask it to open the database and it will work.
Best wishes

If you search Google for a program Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, this will give you the product key for your access 97, all u need is a copy of the CD to reinstall. You could also run the system on the free to distribute access 2007 runtime
Could you perhaps upload a copy of the database minus the data in order to see the structure? To do this
1) Create blank access database
2) Use commands FILE>GET EXTERNAL DATA>IMPORT>TABLES (select all tables & import structure only(no data))
3) Use commands FILE>GET EXTERNAL DATA>IMPORT> and import all forms queries macros & modules.
If you could also give a list of any modifications or additions you require for the system
Thanks
Jimmy

Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
