PDF Scraping and Data Review Interface (MVP for AI application)

We require a simple MVP application for Quark to test the first stage of a larger document-processing and AI project. The application must scrape PDF files from a given web link, save them into a dedicated folder on our VPS, and catalogue the file details in a database. It must also run a local service on the VPS to extract text from the downloaded PDFs, clean that text, add basic metadata, and store the processed output in a database. A simple internal UI is required so we can inspect the extracted text, metadata, and file records manually in order to assess and improve the quality of the extraction process. The core requirements are: scrape PDF files from a specified web link; save downloaded PDFs into a dedicated folder structure; record file details in a database, including source URL, file name, local file path, download date, file size, processing status, and any errors; extract text from each PDF; clean and normalise the extracted text; store extracted text and metadata in the database; include basic metadata such as source URL, access date, document title if available, document date if available, file size, page count if available, and extraction status; provide a simple internal interface to view downloaded files, extracted text, metadata, and failed or incomplete processing. This is a test / proof-of-concept build, not a full production system. The immediate objective is to prove a working pipeline for scraping, storing, extracting, cataloguing, and reviewing PDF content. This MVP is intended as a precursor to a larger AI-based platform, so experience with document processing, structured data extraction, and AI-related workflows will be an advantage and may lead to ongoing development work.

I need a book typeset from text provided from OCR

This is a book of approx. 320 pages. I have created the first 20 or so pages in Quark 2018 to provide a template for the typesetter. I will provide the Quark file, the text and, if required, a paper copy of an earlier edition of the book. This new edition is going to look like the earlier edition, but I have updated some aspects of the design and typography. There are seven sections, each section will require a change of running heads on the right hand page. So that I can later proof and add to your work the file MUST be created using Quark 2018 or compatible Quark software. You MUST have excellent English. Some titles and headers in the ocr are unreadable – but I can resolve this particular problem. Cover design is not required. I attach a sample pdf and the ocr text.

I need someone to make two minor changes to a book in PDF. Essentially, two typos to correct. I don't have the original Quark file and can't be bothered negotiating the Adobe website for the PDF editing tool.

I need to import word files to quark 2018

I have 14 short documents with footnotes. Because of incompatibility issues, although I can copy and paste text into quark 2018, when I do so I am losing 1. the footnotes and 2. the reference numbers in the text. The footnotes also tend to convert from arabic to roman numerals – though this part is easily fixed by going Insert --- footnotes -- convert to end notes. In a nutshell, import files to quark 2018 (any font and page size you like), with superscript reference numbers in text, and endnotes. Also maintaining any incidental formatting such as indented paragraphs and italics. I attach a word file as sample.

Textual Edits to a Quark Express 2020 file

I need a designer with access to and experience with Quark. I have a 375 page book of predominantly text. I have 15 pages in a Word document listing textual changes throughout the book which simply need to be entered carefully and precisely. The right person needs to be careful and systematic and precise. The book is in English, so excellent English skills are required. Attached is a sample of the Quark layout as a PDF, and a sample of the corrections required.

Conversion of circa 2006 Quark Express book file

Hi I have a 200 page book from 2006, and the Quark Express files are now unreadable. Without a Quark from that era they cant be copied forward to a newer file format. This has to work in native Quark as the book was heavily formatted so ignore PDF or other formats. If you have a working copy of that 2006 era Quark, please let me know? I'm looking for a one time file conversion to epub or similar, there is no editorial involved. Budget would be agreed if possible to achieve. Exporting a Quark Xpress 11 doc for print (with crops)

I have a finished 16 page brochure in Quark 11 which needs to go to print. However, I keep outputting the doc with no crops or a doc that crops down below A4 (so the crops are within the print area). Just my user ignorance so I'm looking for someone who can export a print PDF that crops down to A4.
