More detail about the job and the person we want
We seek an intelligent person, someone with enthusiasm who is keen on doing things they enjoy and doing things with pride and genuine interest. You will be paid for the work, as we provide a high-end service, for which we get paid; however, we do not want someone whose primary motivation is money. This position is about following up to present our courses to highly aspirational parents of teenagers, those who greatly value education and want their children to achieve higher exam grades at GCSE and A-level. We have an excellent track record of success, and your job is to help spread the good word and build mutually beneficial relationships with our prospects and clients.
Experience in education, sales or marketing will help, but is not essential. Formal qualifications matter less, what you have to offer as an individual is more important. We provide a service that people need and want and this position is not about hard selling or cold calling, but a consultative approach including advising and presenting our high-end service.
The main aspects of the Job
Using telephone, e-mail and letters in the post to present our courses to parents of teenagers, who have previously contacted us to express an interest in our courses. Following up and speaking to prospective parents on the phone and advising them about the courses we provide – with a view to enrolling their children on our courses. A well-spoken person, who enjoys speaking on the phone is required for this position.
Skills required
1. A good command of English language is important as the position involves making phone calls. The successful candidate must also be very presentable and smartly dressed
2. A basic knowledge in using a computer would be very helpful and knowledge of working in schools would be an advantage, but is not essential. A confident person, with good manners and who is very well-spoken is required.
Excel in Key Subjects provides Saturday Schools and also Intensive Revision courses during school holidays for secondary school children who are taking GCSEs and A-levels in core academic subjects of mainly English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Remunerations and career prospects
The rate of pay will vary between £14 to £16 per hour, but can be much higher, depending on the quality of the candidate and the responsibility they are offered. A higher remuneration package is available for a top candidate who merits it. We will consider contributing towards childcare on the days you come in on Saturdays. If you have a teenager, who may be benefit from tour courses, we will consider an assisted place(s) on our courses for your child.
There is also an excellent prospect of career progression for someone who wants to play a prominent role in helping to grow the company in the future
This position will suit a parent who has young children and wants to work lightly for now, and perhaps resume a busier professional schedule later. Alternatively, a semi-retired person who just wants to work for a few hours a week – doing what they enjoy.
It would help if the person lives in London or the Home Counties, as travel to London about once or twice a month, will be required.
There is a high degree of flexibility in working hours, as starting time on a weekday can be as late at 11am.
Excel in Key Subjects provides extra tuition to teenage students who attend our centre on Saturdays and during some school holidays. Our communication is directed at parents who have children of secondary school age and who are looking for extra tuition provision to improve their children’s performance in school. Most of our students have high aspirations and are looking to achieve the top grades at GCSE and A-level and gain admission to Russel Group universities.
