Free-lance Textile Artist
Charterhouse square, United Kingdom
Anglo-American textile designer, Marina Ignarski grew up in large cities, London and Hong Kong. She has always been attracted to
... drawing and inventing images and she has been drawing since the age of four. For some reason buildings have often featured in her work and even in her doodles. She takes memories from her past and combines them with collage and hand drawn art work. For example an older series of her work took old stickers collected during childhood and made new patterns on cloth from these. “ I like using memories from my childhood in my designs and mixing them with the new to create something innovative”. She believes that it is important to look at the world around us, and not just limit ourselves to fashion labels. “ I look at films, music videos and make sure I visit art galleries when I am traveling to inspire my work.” It was her 4 month internship at Anna Sui in the cosmopolitan city of New York, which made Marina realize she had more in common with the design than she once thought. Anna Sui creates prints that are made into dresses remincent of that a little girl might wear.
