From A One-Person Project To An Established Agency: Outsourcing At Its Best
“Without PPH my business wouldn't be where it is now. I have grown from a one-person consultancy to an agency with 7 staff. We manage over 50 client ad accounts working with ad spends ranging from a few hundred pounds a month to over £30k,” began Sean Clark, director of search and social media advertising agency SeanClark.com. Competing in such a crowded business environment, Sean had to think ahead and really dig deep into his decade’s worth of experience in digital marketing to rise above the noise. Only by staying agile and outsourcing niche projects was he able to go from a oneman band to an established advertising agency in less than 4 years. But hear it from the man himself...
Outsourcing was the right route
“When I first started the business, it was purely myself working as a consultant. I would provide advice to clients, but they would also look to me for implementation. With limited resource and unable to employ staff early on, outsourcing seemed the right route. I listened to a lot of podcasts by likeminded business owners and most of these advocated the use of outsourcing.”
“Although our focus is now on advertising, which we do inhouse, we have managed to do everything from blogging, to complete website builds for clients (e.g., Essex Limos).”
“I had tried other, better-known platforms, but the quality of the work returned vary widely and some were dominated by overseas workers. I wanted to maintain the quality of the work I was doing for clients, I wasn't after cheap labour. I was also already connected to Xenios (the CEO & Founder of PPH) via LinkedIn, so I decided to give PPH a try.”
When asked about the most impressive aspect of using the platform, Sean responded: “The ability to find high quality and reliable workers. PPH has a high percentage of UKbased workers, which allows for ease and speed of communication. Handling payments is easy, as is tracking work. Sally is one PPHer that has been with me for over 3 years and has worked projects every week during that time. She is one of the team.”
