Description
Experience Level: Expert
I am a freelance photographer and .NET developer with some web design skills. I designed and coded my own website a few years ago and need to refresh its look and functionality. I am so busy with photography work that, despite having some skills myself, I do not have the time to do this.
The current design is ok, but the elements do not line up very well (I used iframes) and it does not have good cross-browser consistency. I want to refresh the design and produce something more polished with HTML and CSS. I would also like to incorporate a simple flash object to replace the current 'fading' images that I currently achieve with javascript. The flash would just be made up of still images and will not be interactive.
The site is hosted on a Microsoft server.
Here is some additional info about what I'm looking for.
I want to create a clean, minimalist site that takes on the appearance of a matted wedding album (see attached). I want to use real photographs of the page texture and image cutouts and use CSS or equivalent to position these elements and backgrounds to frame my text and photographic content. (I don't want to use graphical representations of these, like Photoshops substitues, because I want it to look 'real').
The site will consist of around 4 pages: a simple homepage with flash slideshow (static images fading from one to the next), a contact page, about me page, and a gallery page to show examples of my work.
Cross-browser compatability and non-flash redirecting is important. But I don't need anything more technical than that. As a guide, I'd be looking to spend 90% of my budget (i.e. 90% of your time) on getting the visual look of the site right.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm not interested in CMS or anything with php. I am a photographer so will be supplying the images myself - no need for stock images!! Those of you who actually read my original description new that already ;)
