Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
Num. of articles: Depends on the quality of the pitches
Information for the blog/website: Gift/shopping site for kids
Industry: Education
Topic: Products that enhance kids education and development
Tone: Informal/Casual
Outline & Structure: Product features and listicles
Extensive research needed: yes
Extra notes:
Looking for a contributor(s) with a keen interest in children’s education and development, to research and write about fun, educational products for a kids gift and lifestyle website.
Your role will be to discover innovative products online and bring them to the attention of our readers - shoppers buying gifts for 2-12 year olds.
It stands to reason that the products you find will be fun, as well as highly educational. NOTE: You will be finding actual products, linking to the products and selecting the best images to use in your editorial. This is not just a straight writing gig.
Individuals with a background in children's education, be it teaching or home educating would be perfect for this, as they tend to have their finger on the pulse when it comes to knowing what the latest products are in STEM education/book recommendations etc.
Tone of voice and writing style is strictly fun and conversational. If you can add a sprinkle of humor along with your unique personality, then you should definitely get in touch.
Here are a few suggested topics:
- Best kid’s apps
- Book recommendations/reviews
- Educational games, toys and technology/STEM products
- Best educational documentaries, movies etc
- Any other relevant (product specific) ideas you may have
You'll be creating a mix of list type articles as well as single product features. You must have experience of creating this sort of content.
The target audience is based in the US and you will be comfortable writing in US English.
You'll be required to pitch your ideas in the first instance (engaging ideas and unique angles is the key here). Upon approval, you can get started with writing the piece.
NOTE: You will need to obtain permission to use images from the product creator(s), prior to writing your piece. A dedicated email address will be supplied for this purpose. Don't worry, it takes less than a minute to email a creator and pretty much all of them are happy for us to use their images. It's just that you have to ask first!
Pay: £20 per published piece.
Please respond to the qualifying questions to apply. Writers who pass that step will be invited to pitch their ideas.
