Experience Level: Intermediate
We have 7 hours of 1:1 interviews about synaesthesia to be transcribed for a psychology research project. The language used is not complicated (for example it would not require medical transcription experience) but the subject matter may be new to most people. Please see for a brief introduction.

We require semi verbatim transcription of these interviews, with some discourse analysis detail such as changes in respondent volume, tempo or intonation. Ideally this should include total verbatim transcription of the respondent and intelligent verbatim of the interviewer. The attached guidelines outline the level of detail we would require (the guidelines refer to a 10 minute sample interview please bid with your email address if you would like a copy of this audio file). Due to the nature of our work, we have to be very specific about how we instruct the transcription, however you will find it is generally not too different from verbatim transcription. We have included maximum detail in the guidelines so you can make a judgement about how long the work would take please don't be put off by this. The final layout and notation used may be chosen to suit the transcriber, but it must be agreed upon and consistent throughout.

Bids are welcomed in £/minute audio rather than £/hour worked. We would like a turnaround time of a maximum of 2 weeks for this job.

We are continuing to collect interviews and the total duration of audio available for transcription is expected to reach 30 hours by July 2010. If a successful relationship is established through completion of this job there may be an opportunity to gain further work as the project progresses.
