Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
General information for the app: GPUImage Chroma Key app
Kind of development: Customization of existing app
Description of requirements/features: QUICK COMPLETION REQUIRED. 48-72 HOURS.
Our app uses the GPUImage framework for iOS to apply a "chroma key" effect in real time when the user is recording video. The app is written entirely in Objective-C. Search "BradLarson/GPUImage" for more details about this framework: https://github.com/BradLarson/GPUImage
The app is currently 95% complete, with some last-minute bugs and memory issues.
Requirement 1: Debug and fix memory leaks
The application allows the user to overlay their camera footage over another video track with a "chroma key effect. This is currently working, but has memory leak issues. These need to be debugged and resolved. Currently we have to limit this feature to devices with more than 2GB of ram, but this still causes them to eventually crash because of the memory leak. Device camera + video background causes memory issues and crashes.
Requirement 2: Fix video orientation issues
The application allows the user to select a video from their Photos library on their device. Currently, GPUImageMovie is not respecting the orientation of the video that the user imports. For example, if the user imports a video that was recorded in portrait on their device, GPUImageMovie is displaying the video sideways. This is related to "preferredTransform".
You MUST be able to debug this app on a physical device, debugging is not possible from within the iOS simulator, since the simulator has no access to the device camera.
For a better understanding of the app, this is a similar app (not ours) that is already available: https://itunes.apple.com/app/veescope-live-green-screen/id568390801?mt=8
Our issues exist mainly when the user imports a video file to use as their background.
Specific technologies required: Objective-C, Xcode, BradLarson/GPUImage
Extra notes: We require a confident developer to solve the issues quickly before our launch, preferably within 48-72 hours.
You must be very confident working with Objective-C and Xcode. Must have good Xcode experience, and a physical device to test the code on. Debugging is not possible from within the iOS simulator, since the simulator has no access to the device camera.
