Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
Num. of articles: 3
Words per article: 800
Blog/website url: http://blog.helastel.com/
Information for the blog/website: We provide a systems integration platform and bespoke software development and consultancy
Industry: Internet/Software
Topic: (Ongoing research on topical software subjects is needed)
Tone: Formal/Professional
Outline & Structure: As part of our SEO strategy, it's important that we write topical software blogs.
In the past, we have been heavily reliant on our internal developers to generate content ideas to cover any trending software news/trends/topics/strategies, however, it is no longer realistic to take up so much of their time.
We are now looking for a technical writer not only to write blogs for us, but also to come up with the topic. Please find some of our blogs here: http://blog.helastel.com/
Below are examples of the type of blogs we currently need writing. The way it normally works is a blog editor will tell us they would like to see something from us and either give us a brief or ask us to go away and write something appropriate for their blog. Below are 3 pending projects we would like to address in the next couple of weeks:
www.theserverside.com
"We are Java fans, of course, and our audience tends to be very technical, which is why we have such a great reputation, but we also publish introductory articles as well. And we aren't just server-side. Articles on JavaScript, cloud and DevOps are often some of the big hit getters. Why not put together something on a topic you like. I'd be very interested, based on the work for IBM, with what you come up with."
www.codeproject.com
"The best thing to do would be what you mentioned; have a look at existing articles on Code Project and see what areas you feel you could cover and how technical the articles are.”
I’ve also begun a conversation with another high quality blog who is looking for an article from Helastel. This is the response I received from her:
"Elizabeth Bretz forwarded your note about writing for IEEE Spectrum, and I looked at your IBM blog post. I recently read this amazing Atlantic story on software, and am eager to have more coverage of the way software developers work, and the tools they use, on our site. Did you have specific ideas about what else you'd like to write about? That will help me determine if it makes more sense as a blog or feature article."
Best wishes,
Mariela Popova
Extensive research needed: yes
Extra notes: The tone of the blog should not be strictly formal and professional. We would like to strike a nice balance between casual and informative.
