Description

Experience Level: Intermediate
We require a system which enables the Despatch Department to computer
check (using barcode scanners) each of the orders they pack from a picking
list. The system needs to ensure that for each of the product lines contained on a sales order the following is checked:

1) Batch Number (to ensure oldest stock is used first)
2) Product Code (to ensure correct product has been picked)
3) Quantity Ordered

The person packing should walk (with picking list) to the correct bay in the warehouse (barcode readers need to work within 20 metres), scan the batch number barcode of the product (on storage box), then scan the product code barcode on the product label as they put the product into the picking basket (the product code should be scanned as many times as product order quantity). The system should display warning signs if there are any differences in the batch barcode, product barcode or quantity ordered to alert packers to any human error (audible correct and incorrect noises would be ideal as packer is away from the terminal). If all of the above are correct for product line 1 the system should automatically move to product line 2 (if there is one) to save the packer having to manually move to the next product line. The system also needs to be flexible enough to allow manual override of these criteria as inevitably things will occur which are out of the ordinary. However, if the manual override facility is used the system should request a note explaining the reasons behind the override. For example the item maybe out
of stock and showing as to follow. The system needs to have the facility to filter / search both Orders to be Despatched and Despatched Orders using any of the searchable fields (or multiples of the search fields) and then show the results in a clickable list format.
