Project Description

For a new web based commercial initiative I need the services of an experienced and technically excellent PHP Web Developer who is available immediately (or within very short notice) and is happy being based within our office in Old Street, London.

The website we need to design and construct is complex, and will be similar to the depth, style and functionality of a price comparison site. A basic brief in terms of structure, look and feel, and functionality has already been done but we would be looking for the contractor to build on these with the Project Manager and then take on the construction, liaising where needed with the resident in-house programmers and IT staff. In terms of technical skills it is essential the contractor has the following:

Essential:
* Excellent knowledge of PHP 4+ environment (experience with OOP is a plus).
* Good knowledge of (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including frameworks such as JQuery), browser compatibility issues, search engine optimization.
* AJAX basics
* Ability to hand code the above mentioned computer languages.
* Good web design skills and knowledge of Photoshop.
* Good knowledge of MySQL.
* Generic CMS functionality.
* 2+ years of experience from either contracting, part-time or full-time roles.
* Excellent spoken and written English

Extra:
* Experience with ExpressionEngine CMS is a major advantage, but not essential.

We are a fast paced, busy, and developing media group and potentially for the right contractor this project could lead into further ongoing web programming and maintenance opportunities within the company, either in a contracting or full-time capacity.

I am anticipating it will take 8 weeks to fully design, construct and test the website and I am willing to pay £500 per week across this time period, plus a finishing bonus of £500 if we can get the site completed in the time-frame.

It is likely we would seek to meet two or three prospective candidates next week for a short informal discussion before awarding the contract.
