We are a construction company working in Croydon. We have just taken on a contract which requires us to put in place a Training and Employment strategy.
Below is the definition and description as set out in our contract with the local authority.
The Local Employment and Training Strategy shall include (but not be limited to) the following:
a) The approach the Owner will take to delivering employment, training and apprenticeship outcomes, as well as engagement with schools and education providers to fulfil relevant training requirements in the Borough.
b) Details of budget, resources, key delivery targets, delivery methodologies including timescales, and how performance against approved requisite targets will be monitored.
c) Forecasting of labour requirements by the Owner
d) Calculation of the minimum number of total jobs created by the Construction Phase contract value of the Development which shall be filled by local residents, companies and businesses in the Borough which shall be 34% or more of the total number of new vacancies (or such other percentage as agreed in writing between the Owner and Croydon Works) that arise and 5% of such 34%percentage shall be for Vulnerable or Disadvantaged Residents
e) Commitment to working with Croydon Works in order to fill any vacancies together with approximate start dates for the vacancy.
f) In relation to the Construction Phase fitting out works relating to the Units only the commitment by the Owner (and/or through its contractors and subcontractors), to offer, as a minimum, an average of one work-based training opportunity / apprenticeship (of a minimum duration acceptable to the Council) for every 10 construction workers over the entire duration of the construction contract including any maintenance period. Apprenticeships must be accredited, recognised apprenticeships and delivered by accredited training providers.
g) Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety training for staff.
h) Details of how performance against the targets set out in clause 5.5 will be met
