Experience Level: Intermediate
Challenge/Background: The BT homehub model 2.0 has a \"power save\" mode in which it does not transmit signals. However this mode can onlu be set for a specific time each day - eg. from 10pm at night to 7 am in the morining. (If you want to access the internet during powersave period, you can push the reet button on the hub to override it)
We want to achieve a situation where:
1. Powersave is the default mode.
2. The hub only starts to transmit when someone logs on from a laptop.
3. Stops transmitting again when they log off.
We think 3. could be achieveable via some sort of DOS script which, as a person logs off from their laptop, immediately opens powersave function and sets the \"start\" time to the current time (or t + 2 mins).
2. is more tricky. So far we have thought of some sort of robotic arm which will press the restart button on the homehub when activated reomotely by a laptop. But you may have other ideas.
Ideally you will be able to help with both 2. and 3. but if you just have ideas for one of them, we would still like to know. If you prefer to quote a fixed price for succesful delivery, that is good.
