Project spec

We are a human rights charity who need an experienced and talented writer to undertake the following project.

Mix of home working and the organisation office if needed, (London) for period of 2nd Aug- 25th October. Interviews for article research can take place by phone if preferred.

NB: Client is our term for the torture survivors we treat.

Quote for project:

If you could please quote a day rate for this, and number of days work you anticipate.

Project scope:

* Ad hoc support with mailed appeals to our supporters, but the priority will be the magazine related work below.

Arrange content for articles for supporter magazine as follows;

* Cover letter (400 words)
* Introduction on inside cover of magazine to this special 25th anniversary edition of newsletter and overview of the organisation's work (200 words)
* Arranging consent for use of a piece of client writing from the latest therapeutic writing anthology with the group coordinator
* Article focussing on two major conflicts that have led to influxes of clients since the organisation began the wider causes of conflicts and case studies from those countries.
* This may involve talking to one of our clinicians (giving an overview of the changes in the organisation since it began perhaps?)
* It will involve finding 2 case studies, (one from each country featured). You will need to obtain client consent via the clinician(s) who have worked with them.
* This may involve looking through the client files for salient points also.
* We have prepared background information for these pieces. We could perhaps have one of the situations relating to clients we were receiving in the late 80s (eg Argentina/Chile?) and one now (eg DR Congo/Afghanistan) It should be almost completely client focused/clinical issues.(1,400-1,700 words)
* Article on our services through the years - how we have adapted to the changing needs of clients. The diversity of our services and how our multi disciplinary approach helps torture survivors and respects each of them as individuals. Would involve interviewing one of our clinicians talking about how their own work fits in with the wider holistic model. (700 words)
* Short introduction to a page thanking supporters (200 words)
* Edit an article (600 words) to be supplied by a writer/ supporter. This will arrive first week of September. NB: she is a high value donor who has referred friends to the The organisation as clients.
