Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: Website sells advertising space on a grid on the homepage.
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Description of requirements/features: I need JS mouse actions to have touch actions binded (not necessarily the right word) to them
Similar urls: www.milliondollarscript.com
Extra notes: I have a website that uses the www.milliondollarscript.com ver 2.1 development snapshot. This script allows users to put images on a grid on the homepage of my website. These images have mouseover values, such as alt text and a secondary image, etc, - the system has a dynamic admin panel that allows me to add text and image fields, to which users enter the values and the system puts these on the grid, using JS for the mouseover actions. When the user mouseovers an image that has been placed on the homepage grid by the system, this works fine, they see what the script has generated. When a user on a touch device touches this image, it does nothing, except follow the link (presumably the onclick function). I need the system to generate touch events for the images that are presented, in a way that is something along the lines of this:
When a touch user taps link A, only the mouseover box for link A is activated but the link does not open. After this, there are two possible options:
User taps link A again -> link A is opened.
User taps link B -> mouseover box for link B is activated and the mouseover box for link A is deactivated.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if a user taps link A, then taps link B and then taps link A again, it should not consider link A as being tapped for a second time (which would lead to the browser to open the link).
Clearly, you will need to familiarise yourself with the million dollar script a little before providing a quote for this. For someone that knows what they're doing it shouldn't be a huge issue, because the system already generates all the values necessary, we just have to tell it to handle touch events in ways that are already specified by mouse events.
You will have to make sure the script generates touch actions dynamically, e.g. when the script puts an image on the homepage grid, it specifies mouse action values for that particular image, and these mouse values must now have touch values generated relevant to it too. As the system already generates the mouseover value, I assume it is simply an issue of telling the system to handle a touch action in the way it handles, say, mouseover ... But that is for you to tell me.
When you make your proposal, tell me how you will achieve this task, how many hours you'd expect it to take, and why... I am tech savvy so don't worry about going into detail, I welcome this, but making a simple case for the solution you'd provide is recommended.
Thanks in advance. Generic / pasted proposals will be declined. No exceptions.
