Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
General information for the website: We sell outdoor, hiking, skiing and snowboarding products
Description of requirements/features: We have an e-commerce web site which is running Magento 1.6.2 in multi-site mode with two web sites on a Virtual Private Server.
Whilst the Magento web site is setup to serve two web sites, only one of the sites is a production site that is in full use. The other site is accessible but with no products listed.
The aim of this project is to refresh the design of the existing site to apply a responsive theme with a new colour scheme and any base imagery (e.g. promotional banners) needed to get the template/site in good working order. The successful freelancer will also be required to apply the same theme but with a different colour scheme and different base imagery to the second site.
Both sites will need to be tested to ensure they are operational. We have under 300 products live and with stock on the web site, so whilst we want to grow the product range and sites, this is currently a relatively small Magento store(s).
The logos currently on our site will be replaced as part of this project. We have recently had new corporate logos designed which will be provided to assist with selecting colour schemes for the web sites. The successful freelancer will need to incorporate these logos into the theme/design and upload them.
The approach below is based upon the use of a theme to keep the cost down. Other approaches will be considered, so feel free to put forward an alternative way of achieving the outcome detailed. If you have an approach which is more cost effective or quicker that results in us getting upgraded, updated, good looking, responsive Magento web site(s) we'd love to hear it!
Suggested Approach:
Upgrade our multi-site installation of Magento Community Edition from 1.6.2 to 1.9.x (latest version of Magento 1).
Recommend a responsive theme based upon previous experience that will work with both Magento 1.9 and Magento 2 (we are planning to migrate to Magento 2 next year).
Provide options/ideas for colour scheme and base imagery for each of the two sites for review by the client.
Following decision by the client, create basic mock ups based upon the chosen colour scheme and imagery.
Customise theme, applying colour scheme and base imagery to both of the two web sites.
Install theme.
Test web sites thoroughly and ensure all aspects of the sites are in working order, e.g. products can be added to basket and processed through to checkout, customers can login, payment redirects are working, theme scales to different resolutions etc.
Timeline:
Select the freelancer and commission work before the 28/10/2016.
Complete the project and launch the refreshed sites by the 18/11/2016
Other Information:
The following extensions are installed: Worldpay, M2E Pro, Lightbox, Newsletter Sign-up, Mailchimp, Remarkety
The successful freelancer must be familiar with CentOS and administering servers and Magento via SSH as we do not have a graphical control panel.
URLs will be provided upon request.
Specific technologies required: Magento
