I want to hire someone with access to a database such as Lexis or Westlaw. I am looking for reports on a criminal case which took place probably between 1992 and 1996, in the UK (I think in Wales).

A babysitter drugged and molested several children. At the trial the defendant claimed to be mentally ill and suffering from gender identity disorder. A psychiatrist testified that the defendant was not suffering from a treatable mental illness, but from a personality disorder. The defendant was found guilty and the judge reluctantly imposed a jail sentence.’  However he was enormously sympathetic because the defendant would not now, despite just finishing years of training,’  be able to practise as a vet. The judge directed that the defendant should receive all the help required for gender identity disorder etc., before going to jail.

I believe that the verdict may have been overturned on appeal, on the basis that the defendant should have been found unfit to plead.
