Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We built the Buccaneer App using the Ionic Framework, allowing us to develop for both Android and iOS with one application written in TypeScript (transpiled to JavaScript). This has not caused any issues until we started working to add Push Notifications into the application, at which point we have started having some problems building the application for iOS.
Currently we have the back end infrastructure in place for sending push notifications and the application itself has been built, deployed and tested for Android. However, when we move the code over to an Apple device and try to compile it for iOS in XCode it fails. We have switched Push Notification provider (from Ionic to OneSignal) due to the Ionic service not being supported from 31st January 2018 and hoped that this would solve the problems we were having as well but we are facing similar problems. I believe it is a problem with dependent libraries not being compiled properly in XCode as it fails stating the library referenced is not recognised and others have suggested that the use of CocoaPods and an appropriately structured Podfile should solve this, however we have been unable to come to a solution as of yet.
