Each paragraph of the 'poem,' will become a page in a book. I want to have each paragraph of the following 'poem', to be accompanied by a hand drawn picture that you create.
(A farmed salmon talking wild salmon)
Sarah the salmon ---swam by my net
My friend Frank said —-I’ll take a bet
Even with---- all the world's charm
That beautiful Salmon won’t love —-a fish from a farm
Getting her attention--- was my biggest wish
Using my best line I yelled — “are you tickle- fish”
“Too bad I'm a fish- you can't see I'm laugh-crying”
“By the way, farmed fish ---are only for frying”
I longed to be a native —- fresh from the deep sea
Not sure that she would ever---love a farm boy like me
For me It was love —-love at first sight
In full living color—her skin was so bright
I was from a fish farm —-so just black and white
Living behind a net ---it was my plight
Sarah had muscles— as she leaped with joy
So Strong and gorgeous —-a real ‘fish- Tom -boy’
It’s hard to grow strong — where it’s dark and it's dank
When your life exists- in a fish tank.
Thousands of us live ---behind this fish net
It's been a year---- since we first met
Soon Sarah will ---- head out to the sea
I just pray ---she won’t forget about me
She won't compute --- her boyfriend is farmed
And while she's at sea -- that she won't get harmed
Its now been three years -- I sit, thumbs twirled
While Sarah looks for health food --- all over the world
They give us antibiotics- - and pellets of soy
Clearly not the best way -- to make a man from a boy
I wish you could tell me---all you’ve endured.
It will be four years--- before we exchange words
It's then that I'll tell you ---about my friend Frank
He died suddenly-- something infected our tank
During the autopsy ---his flesh was still gray
The red dye neglected-- to create a fillet
The man from the autopsy -- he just joked
He said Frank's "skin -- it looks like he smoked"
Four years have passed---how do whales sound?
Maybe you'll tell me --- as you are home bound
Your brother just swam by--- his flashy skin
I asked about you --- he just flipped me the fin
Your brother, he circled--said I’m "not your guy"
I said, “I can look different— they’ll add the red dye”
“I know that we both have --- a similar taste
But you spent your whole life -- in the fish waste
It's not just that- you need minerals from the sea
Sarah is wild --- a real fish you see.”
Words of wisdom—- her brother he said.
Words us farmed fish —-have come to dread
“In a world that struggles —to define true wealth
We define it —-with good food and good health
So even as our lives ---come to an end
We all hope - that we remain friends.”
“Like her ancestors-- as a new day dawns
Sarah will swim up stream --- in good health to spawn”

Hi Lance,
Can you provide examples of the style of illustrations you want, how many and what is your budget for the project? (I love salmon!)
