The U. S. federal government is the largest customer in the world. They literally buy everything except money. The federal government has thousands of agencies and departmentsâ�’¦each one needing everything normal businesses would need and then some.

The federal government will spend over $500 billion this year on regular spending and another $787 billion on the stimulus package. 39% of all these billions are set aside for small businesses. Yet, only 2% of small businesses have even bothered to register to do business with the federal government. Why? Because of the four myths listed below:

Myth1: The federal government does not buy what I sell.

Myth2: The federal government may buy what I sell, but they will never buy it from a small company like mine

Myth3: It will take years and years to learn how to sell to the federal government

Myth4: There is too much red tape and they pay slow

Government consultants will have small businesses believe that they need to spend 2 ’½ days of their life and $5,000 just to get an overview of the federal market. Then they charge $10,000+ per month to get companies federal business.

Our Association has a very different approach. We believe every small business can have 20% or more of their profits from the recession proof federal government and they can win federal contracts themselves. Instead of the expensive consultant business model, we take a coaching approach. We believe it is far better to teach a man to fish than to give him a fish.

With this in mind, we have created both physical and webinar-based ’½ day workshops. We train small business owners EVERYTHING they need to win U.S. federal government contracts without needing government consultants. Our fees are literally 10x less than the government consultants. And after the workshop, we stand ready with coaching and other services to help small businesses quickly and profitable launch into the federal market place.

In this context, our Association is seeking a Federal Government Specialist (FGS) to be responsible for educating and selling small business owners to come to the workshop.

Reporting to the District Manager, the FGS will develop and bring clients to the workshops.

Summary of what you will be doing:

Attend Chamber and other networking events
Set up coffee meetings
Educate and sell business owners to attend the live or webinar workshop
Client relationship management after the workshop
Traveling to clients on occasion
Managing multiple accounts
Create timely accurate reports

Client Relationship Management
Establish a post-workshop relationship with clients in an effort to retain and increase revenue. Manage client expectations, requests, and issues accordingly.
Be able to provide exceptional customer service and evangelize the value proposition of all Association coaching and follow-up products
Assist management with presales activities, such as creating proposals, participating in conference calls, and/or up selling the client into larger buys or alternative programs, which can positively impact revenue.
Update management on a daily basis as to the status of new clients, as well as issues with current clients.
Continually seek ways to improve internal process and product offerings.
Respond to client correspondence in a timely fashion.


Education Requirements:
Bachelor degree. Emphasis in business administration with an emphasis in Marketing or equivalent desired but not required
No experience required. We offer comprehensive training in the
Association sales system
Knowledge of social networking
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to work well in international context (multiple sites in different geographies)
