Employability Skills -- Be my own job coach
Aim: to produce a pack that can be used semi-independently by students who have employability skills as part of their programme. This will be accessible and differentiated for those who have literacy skills from entry level 3, level one to level two. It is aimed at those who are on a Foundation Learning programme or Welfare to Work scheme and requires a Functional Skills approach to some aspects of the content.
This will cover the usual produce a CV, write letters of application, complete application forms, interview skills etc. However, we want to particularly focus on finding jobs using new technology, internet, etc. Also there is a need to focus on what jobs are available in my area and how do I find out. It needs to be a job pack for the 21st century.
A strong self coaching (simplified) approach is required. Aspects around goal setting, action planning and reviewing are needed.
The target audience for this are learners/students/unemployed who are operating at entry level 3 to level 2 (literacy/numeracy skills). Think Fairly Job Mother (Channel 4) and you are getting the right client group.
The skills covered should be linked to the Adult Core Curricula and Functional Skills. Notes for teachers will need to be supplied to outline the educational objectives for each task and your thinking behind them.
This is for a UK market and it is expected that writers will be educational professionals with a background in: Skills for Life, functional skills or employability skills.
