Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are a publicly funded advisory service. We provide unbiased advice and guidance on the use, development, and licensing of free and open source software. Our services are available free-of-charge to UK higher and further education.
One of our outputs is content relating to the advice that we provide.
At present our content is managed using a largely manual process and a statically published website, a wiki and a blog. This project is the first in a series of projects to replace this system with an integrated content management system based on Drupal.
Phase one: in the first phase we wish to move our existing blog, currently hosted on an instance of Wordpress MU, to Drupal. Our blog is a basic multi-author blog with standard workflow (draft or published). We require content to be migrated from the current blog to this new blog. We will require a new theme based on, but not a direct copy of, our existing site design. The attached documents provide recommendations for the new theme although we are happy to consider alternative design suggestions.
Phase Two: (not part of this project) is to create a wiki like environment. Currently we use MoinMoin, however this is unimportant since we do not require that content be migrated from the old to the new system. We will require a new theme that makes wiki content clearly different from blog content, yet still part of the same site.
Phase Three: (not part of this project) is to create a full content management system implementing our publication and review proces (see attached document). We will require a new theme that makes this main content clearly different from both wiki and blog content, yet still part of the same site. The workflow should allow for blog or wiki content to be converted into main site content. All content must be migrated from our existing site to the new system. This content is currently maintained in an XML format (known as TEI).
Although this project is for Phase One only you should describe, in your bid, how your implementation will facilitate the other two phases. We expect all sensible functional units to be packaged as features with corresponding drush install scripts.
We have documentation describing the current system and management processes and a consultants recommendations for the new system. These recommendations should be used as a guide to implementation but bidders should not feel restricted by the recommendations they contain. We view these as a guide only and are willing to adapt our expectations if necessary for a more easily managed implementation.
Unfortunately, due to the upload file limit and limitations on providing contact details we are unable to provide these as part of this project description. We do require this to be a fixed price job and in the case of Phase One we are not asking for any complex functionality. It is our hope that the person who completes phase one will also bid for and complete phase two and three. Phase three is the complex project and by the time we get to there we hope to have a strong working relatoinship and you will have seen all the requirements documentation we have available.
