Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Ideally UK based, independent programmer required.
The project is a remote working opportunity, with an internet startup company based in Yorkshire. Availability to meet with the client on occasions would be good but not essential.
Key technical skills will include .Net (C# preferably, but could be VB.Net), SQL Server (including both database design and data access programming) or the ability to code 'lamp'. Additionally, you will be responsible for the design and architecture of the back-end of the application; at present we are considering (but are not committed to) a distributed architecture involving either Net remoting or WCF, and a working knowledge of either of these would be a bonus. You will need to be self-sufficient to the extent of identifying, comparing, recommending and implementing the appropriate technical strategies that will form the foundation of the company's business.
The front-end of the application MAY be based around a third-party social networking package, OR may be custom-built. If you also have the skills to either develop the front-end, or to integrate the 3rd-party package with the custom functionality and link it to the back-end, that would be a major advantage.
Additionally, there are a number of other applications, some web-based, some desktop-based, that will be sold as discrete products. These may include VB.Net and other technologies, so broad experience and a willingness to suppport/develop these products would be welcome.
The client, as mentioned, is a start-up and therefore has limited budgets available. However they are realistic as to costs and we had been negotiating a respectable package for the back-end functionality with the prospect of ongoing additional payments once the site is earning revenue.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with the initial architectural design and coding of a potentially lucrative new player in commercialised social networking.
