Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
This project is to create a registration and scoring system for an on-site contest event, within an existing WordPress site.
FUNCTIONALITY
Registration:
Contestants will register through a contestant registration page on the WP site. When they register they will answer approx. 5-8 basic questions and are required to join an existing team or add a new team.
You will design system logic that will prevent more than 5 people from joining a team.
Teams will register their project on a project registration page.
Judges Scoring:
Judges will have a private scoring page where they see the list of projects to be judged. They choose a project to score on a 1-10 scale, in real time, for multiple categories (i.e. best appearing 1-10, best use of materials 1-10, etc.). The categories need to be configured so that I can add or change them in the future without your help.
There will be a results page, only visible to judges that will order projects from best score to worst in each category, based on total points scored for each project, in real time. Judges can also adjust their scores for any project at any time and the system will immediately update the totals.
People’s Choice:
There will also be “people’s choice voting” whereby each registered event attendee can score each project 1-10, but the system will restrict them from voting for any project more than once and restrict attendees from voting for their own project. The results can only be seen by judges.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
Registrants do not pay a fee to register for the event, but in a future event, that feature might be necessary. Your thoughts on how that can be modified in the future will be a consideration in choosing the developer for this project.
It seems like BuddyPress might be usable for some functions here, but it’s not a requirement. AJAX seems to make sense for scoring results in real time. You need to express exactly how you will create the system.
Page design for all pages will be very simple and clean. Graphics will be provided to you as/if needed (they don’t exist yet).
The final system CANNOT function or look like a bunch of different plug-ins hacked together. It MUST be a clean, easy to use, fast, fully functional and bulletproof system.
The finished project must work and be consistent across all major browsers on Windows and iOS, MUST be properly responsive, and look/work properly on mobile devices, especially tablets.
You MUST test your work and fix your bugs before submitting anything to me for testing. A dev WordPress site has been set up that you can use.
Also, by accepting this job, you are agreeing that payment will only be provided upon successful completion. Your work will be thoroughly tested and only when it works per the requirements and is bulletproof will the payment be released. If that is unacceptable, do not bid the project.
FYI – there may be additional tasks added to the project. If it happens, you can obviously increase your fee for that work. I also have more projects from small WP work, to a custom plug-in, to a large plug-in project, so the intent is to start a long-term working relationship with someone talented and trustworthy.
