Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We recently found a record of my grandfather singing that he sent home from the front in 1944.
After years of being in a cupboard, the quality has suffered somewhat, with much hissing and noise.
We have digitalised the recording as a 24-bit 96 WAV, and are looking for someone who knows what they're doing to remove as much of the noise/hissing and possible, to leave us a recording that is as clean and clear as possible.
The total recording is around 3m 20s, with two songs and a bit of talking.
I've attached the recording here:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1e-7hifxrgKcG84bXowbU1RVWc
We are also happy to take advice on how best to digitalise the recording/file formats. We would like to hear some before/after of work you've done before, or even better to hear what you can do with the supplied sample.
Thanks!

Hello James,
It can be cleaned to filter most of the hiss, but it's too damaged like to wait perfect sound. Besides dust into the tracks, the disc is also a bit deformed.
Is it the source in your power? If so, I could advise how to recover most of its original sound and then it could be recorded once more.
Regards,
AdrianJames M.04 Feb 2017Hi Adrian,
Yes, I have the original record, as well as 24bit 96KHz WAV recordings of both sides.
Thanks,
James -
