Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I'm looking for some 'prototype' illustrations to bring to life 6 characters in a series of childrens books I'm in the process of developing.
At the moment I've got a rough idea of what they will look like or at least the
defining characteristics of each so will be able to provide the winning bidder with a relatively detailed profile of each but I need your help in bringing them to life.
If I'm happy with the prototypes then I will also require 4 fully illustrated spreads to be submitted with a draft of my proposed initial book to various publishers in the next few weeks, this will be proposed in a seperate project at a later date not too far away.
This could potentially turn into a lot of work as I'm planning to turn this idea into a series of 11 books and one off stories.
The illustrations should veer toward the 'easy on the eye' and 'cartoon with a bit of edge' end of the spectrum but still retain a sizeable element of charm and the 'awwwwwwwwww' factor but above all steer clear from cliched and cutesy! They need to be fun to look at and bring a smile to the face of children AND adults alike.
I'm a great believer of using the eyes (and to a slightly lesser extent subtle mouth movement) as a means of expression - from a cheeky eyebrow wiggle and forced grin out of the corner of the page to blank stare and tightened lips expressing nervous fear to half closed eyes and expressionaless mouth to express boredom and frustration so this needs ot be borne in mind so they can be made to react in interesting and funny ways to various story lines.
So initially for this project I'll just need line drawings of how you interpret the characters. I'll be happy to answer any number of questions you have while musing the final look of each character, the most important thing is that the essence of each is captured and the final look is as original as possible.
Please only submit a bid to this project if you're happy to relinquish copyright to all the final images for this and future related projects.
