Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Kind of writing: Speech
Num. of words: 5 mins - 600 words max
Topic: Performance Management
Tone: Humorous
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: I have to give a one hour presentation on Performance Management to an audience of about 100 HR professionals. This is about work related Performance Management in organisations. The stuff that gets people hired and fired. It is not about sports, arts or endurance performance.
I want a short script or number of short anecdotal stories and/or one liners to open the proceedings, and perhaps a couple to close it down. The tone should be humorous, engaging and relevant to the individuals.
The intention is to relax the audience and break the ice without in any way being offensive, so it does not need to be "edgy". I have no problems with themes that trivialise or might take the Michael out of the subject matter. I am guessing that the kind of things that might work well would be anything that relates to the collective experience of managing people and getting them to perform better in an organisation. Topical references might also work well.
I think that someone with a real understanding of working within reasonably sized corporate environments might find this easier than someone with no experience.
The presentation itself is a mix of case studies and theoretical models, so it is quite dry and intense. We will cover things like:
History of Performance Management
Problems with Performance Management in organisations
What does best in class look like
Quantitative/Qualitative analysis of Performance
How does Behaviour affect Performance
The difference between Engagement and Performance
How to wrap them all together
As a company we build systems that measure things like behaviour, engagement, opinion and performance in organisations, and I am quite happy for us to be the butt of any humour.
I hope this helps
I need this by 12am Saturday so that I can tune it and practice it over the weekend. I'd like to make a decision tonight if possible.
The only other requirements are Fluent British English (I really think that it needs to be your Mother tongue for this to work) and an ability to meet agreed deadlines.
Many thanks
Chris
