Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hello there,
I am self taught Access 2013 user primarily using online tutorials and YouTube tutorials.
I dont do VBA although again I have used for some simple tasks, again just by following YouTube tutorials.
My job involves some literature reviews and some research work for the purpose of keeping up with best practises. Instead of using MS Excel to collect and analyse my data I tend to prefer MS Access because it allows me to easily use queries to answer specific question of interest.
Now then. I have created a database of all the articles i found online and now working my way through them. I have a table which lists all the articles and some other data relating to the articles. The table has an Attachment Field to store the pdf file. The aim is to either store the file or a link to the file then in the form add a button to open it within the same form.
I have created a form and attached the pdf files ok. But I am told its not a good practice to store the files in the database. Instead create a link to avoid causing the database to bloat.
So i need a step by step video Tutorial (NOT a software) how to achieve this.
I have attached what I have done so far. Once I cross this bridge then I can move on to the next stage of analysis where I will need to add more tables.
