What you get with this Hourlie

Give me some clear indications on your brand(s), including future ones, and on what products/services you plan to use them on and I can get your application on file.

Likewise, if you have a product with aesthetic qualities then I can have an application for a Registered Design filed.

Price includes VAT, where applicable.

Classes are used to categorise various products and services in trademark applications. I advise on classes as part of the service and devise acceptable specifications. I also provide preliminary advice and undertake identical/near identical trademark searches (where they contain word elements).

Official fees are due to the authorities which are not included here.

In the UK, the first class in a trademark application costs up to £200 and it's then £50 for each additional class.

In the EU, the first class in a trademark application costs €850. The second class is an additional €50. Each additional class beyond that is €150.

Official fees for Registered Designs start at £60 (UK) and €350 (EU).

For other countries, please get in touch and I can get you a quote. I file directly with some authorities. In others, it is mandated to use a local agent but I am well connected across the world.

It is recommended to make a search of the trademark registers to check for any prior trademarks that could prove problematic to the use or registration of your trademark.

In a smooth case for the UK, which takes about four months, the price includes sending the Registration Certificate by signed-for post and monitoring the renewal date in our database.

In a smooth case in the EU, which takes about four-five months, the price includes sending the Registration Certificate by e-mail. Physical Certificates are not issued by the EU authorities.

In the event of queries/objections from a Trademarks Office and/or third parties then these would cost extra to respond to/argue against. As you may imagine, it depends on their nature. I can quote to you in their event. For information, about 5-10% of UK trademark applications and 20% of EU trademark applications receive third party oppositions.

What the Seller needs to start the work

I need information on your brands (and if it's a logo or figurative, a .jpg file) and the products and/or services you use or intend to use the trademark on. We will make an assessment on whether the trademark is registrable prima facie. I will also need you to be available to confirm any recommendations.

Please also confirm the country scope.

I need to know the applicant (name and address) for any application.

For Registered Designs, I shall need representations of the designs (technical drawings being preferred).
