What you get with this Hourlie
With over 25 years of experienced as a published writer and editor, I can provide you with perfect book formatting, checking that all technical aspects are on-point and adding all the finishing touches that give a book that feel of superior quality, from cover to cover.
- Chapter titles
- Alternating headers (this is not achievable in most writing software)
- Front and back matter
- Proofing and quality control of the entire contents
- Editing with drafting if necessary
- Insertion of figures, graphics, photos, illustrations, ISBN and barcodes, etc.
- Unlimited revisions to guarantee perfect results
The editing process can be quite extensive and it starts with getting to know the author and the manuscript. That way I can assure that the book achieves its goal, captivates readers and conveys the writer's style and uniqueness.
The finished product is a set of files that you can e-publish or send to a publisher or printer without any further hassle.
This service is for whole books - usually between around 60-80,000 words, however the Hourlie's maximum delivery period is five days. This doesn't allow for much editing.
Therefore this Hourlie covers 3000 words (with a margin of 10% in your favour, i.e. up to 3300 words). If your manuscript is longer, which it most probably is, please select the relevant add-on to bring it up to your desired wordcount or contact me for a tailored proposal. It is highly inadvisable to just edit a bit of a book and such a request will be refused.
Note: the add-ons are not deliverable in five days as stated; the rate is 3000-6000 per week depending on the quality of your manuscript. I will give you a more accurate estimation once I have reviewed the manuscript.
Note: this Hourlie is for credited work. It does include drafting, if necessary, which does not have to be credited.
Note: this Hourlie is not suitable for comic books, picture books or books with numerous illustrations although a few images are fine.
Note: if you are still working on your manuscript DO NOT buy this Hourlie, you need to get it as finished as you can before engaging an editor. An editor wants one manuscript to work from not a series of ever-changing iterations - after all who is doing the editing?
What the Seller needs to start the work
Please provide a copy of your manuscript in any Windows-accessible format.
It may also be desirable to have a conversation on the workstream about your aims for the manuscript, to discuss style, fonts, etc. I can also offer a phone consultation at the start to get the ball rolling if preferred.
