It can be caused by different sub-populations such as Mainland Chinese versus Taiwanese and American versus British, or same words/phrases used in different domains, historical backgrounds, the state of mind of the writer etc. Therefore, a broad and in-depth knowledge in different domains are important to acheive a concise translation.
As a native mandarin speaker and receiving my first degree in UK, I am able to read and write both the Simplified and Traditional Chinese as well as Modern English. One of my hobbies is history and philosophical reading.
