To this end, my preferred work (and strongest areas) all fall under that most general of categories, 'creative writing'. I am personally disposed to copy-writing (as a direct example of how words can influence a market to sell an idea), and journalism in its' broadest sense, finding that both the research and the writing play to my strengths and interests.
Area Covered: Guernsey web-based work undertaken
Work Experience Summary: A life-long poet (formerly a member of the local poetry society, and winner of the 'Prix D'Honneur,' in the only year I competed locally), musician and composer, words are no stranger to me. Roughly 10 years ago, my interests broadened and came to include fictional and factual essay writing. Through the course of my education, I authored numerous essays, centred mostly (though not exclusively) on the philosophy of mind, knowledge and language, and religion in the modern world. All through university and after, I have been a contributing member to creative writing societies, and have particularly become interested in literary criticism, sales and journalism; though I have only recently decided to pursue it professionally.
Education Summary: All my A-levels were taken in 'essay' subjects (History, English Literature, and Religious Studies), and my first year minor course at the university of Lancaster was Creative Writing (my majors were Philosophy and Religion). As a result of these choices, I spent the entirety of my academic life post G.C.S.E studying various forms of writing from a number of disciplines. Breif perusals of 'writers workshops' and courses have always convinced me that, in general, they were things to avoid. University level skills in the use of the English language have provided me with the ability to express whatever I am attempting in the tone and vocabulary required. Re-course to hackneyed, pre-packaged scripts and methodologies cannot take the place of genuine expressive and linguistic skills.
