While working with clients within commercial gyms I have also managed Personal trainers in Health clubs for the last two years.
With the bulk of my experience with one-to-one coaching, I've recently begun to coach clients further afield with some great results, albeit with some initial issues with the lower levels of face-time making technique correction somewhat tricky.
Along with this I have begun to actively write a more creative lifestyle styled blog at www.almostexperienced.blogspot.com to get some feedback from as many people as I can. And, in a serendipitous turn of events, through this I have had the opportunity to begin writing for BJJ Style magazine doing an article series on conditioning your joints to avoid injury.
Next, in the coming months I will be attending Seminars in Denmark on the CHEK Institutes advanced training programs, and beginning work on a Personal training guide for prospective clients on what to look for in a trainer.
Area Covered: A brief synopsis of my direction
Work Experience Summary: Aphrodite Hills Spa, Cyprus, 2006 as a Personal Trainer & Sports Therapist
Fitness First, Coleraine, N.Ireland, Feb 2007-Feb 2008 as a Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer & Masseuse.
LA Fitness, Belfast, N.Ireland, Feb 2007-August 2009 as a Physical Specialist, Sports Masseuse & Nutritional Advisor.
LA Fitness, Marylebone, London, Sept 2009-Sept 2010 as a Elite Trainer, Sports Therapist & lifestyle Coach.
Freelance Trainer & writer, Sydney, Australia/London, UK, November 2010-Present
Education Summary: I took my formative, or unspecific schooling in Northern Ireland while attending the Coleraine Academical Institution where I was an honours student in my final year. Honours were for athletic achievements in Rowing for the school.
Following this I developed an interest in doing a "mini-career" test for my own personal research, under the theory that as a person who wanted to choose a career for life I needed to discover which one I had a passion for. Luckily the education system in the UK allowed me to trial several types of internship alongside another job.
Through this I worked as a full time employee in Tesco, and later Starbucks while training in Cookery, Painting & Decorating, Landscaping and later Fitness Instruction.
While I know it wasn't the traditional route taken by the majority, it gave me the experience of working with hugely successful companies in various fields, where I was fortunate enough to be educated by those with years of experience, with Fitness finally being the chosen vocation.
Once I defined my path as Fitness (broadly termed at this stage), I moved from the UK to Jersey (C.Isles) in 2006 to immerse myself in study, followed by undergoing intensive training with Premier Training in Cyprus the same year.
The end was myself as a fully qualified Personal Trainer, Sports Massage Therapist and Nutritional Advisor, which set me off with the knowledge to begin my life within the fitness industry.
Following on from this I have completed various Chek (corrective holistic exercise kinesiology) training courses, specialising in Core, back, program design and female training implications.
The next educational move will be another Corrective qualification under the CHEK institute in May of 2011.
