Fifteen years old in Annemasse, France, Stefan Celosia picked up his first guitar. What followed can only be described as an intricate love affair.
Rock music turned to blues. Guitar playing blossomed into song-writing and improvisation. Stefan found himself collaborating more and more as he met others in whom he saw his passion reflected. The more he was exposed to, the more he learned, and his style began to range from folk to progressive to jazz. In 2008, while studying physics at the University of Strathclyde, Stefan joined the band that would eventually become SubSpheric. With this, he found himself at the helm as the main musical contributor and organiser, devoting his time and effort into improving his own musical and managerial abilities and learning about the industry.
For the next several years, Stefan worked closely with SubSpheric, playing gigs, collaborating, and developing new skills in composition, performance, stage presence, and management. With studio work in mind, he tried his hand at multi-track recordings, mixing, mastering, and producing. As members’ commitments and availability changed, eventually disbanding in 2013, Stefan continued to actively seek out opportunities in Glasgow’s music scene, collaborating with local artists and developing solo work among other things.
Realizing that he wanted to dedicate himself completely to music, Stefan completed his degree in physics and subsequently enrolled in a Music Performance HND at Kelvin College, formerly North Glasgow College. In addition to his years of experience, the degree would offer Stefan his first formal musical education, consolidating his knowledge and skills in a range of topics from music theory to business management.
Thriving in this professional environment, Stefan received overwhelmingly positive feedback as he worked with other songwriters, composers, musicians, and even filmmakers, ultimately contributing to Stefan’s motivation and drive to work as a music producer.
That is what he is building toward today. Currently, Stefan is an active member of the band Perché, where he writes, performs and has several managerial responsibilities. He recently participated in an Erasmus program, studying classical theory and guitar at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music for three weeks, allowing him to expand his connections further abroad and strengthen his variety of knowledge. He is always looking for new and exciting creative opportunities that will allow him to engage with the music industry.
Stefan has come a long way since first picking up a guitar at age fifteen. From that moment, he started down a path that would be inextricably linked with music, and is now also learning to play bass, drums, keys, saxophone and singing. His development and experiences have been intertwined with his passion for music, from early guitar playing to composition to management to production. Stefan is able to intervene in a creative as well as technical manner, from the rehearsal room to the mastering suite, bringing musical products up to industry standards in every aspect. He has not only the technical knowledge, demonstrable experience, and creative inspiration for production, but also the passion and dedication that underlie every successful work. It is what has made his relationship with music so strong.
