Additionally, I have also been driving my organisation forward into its role as an academy sponsor. I have successfully built credible relationships not only within the DfE but with schools and local authorities. This knowledge and support enables senior colleagues and governors to crystallise their academy visions. This form of bespoke advice and guidance to local authority lead partners as well as headteachers and governors has resulted in interest from several authorities and potential academies across England.
I also work to support local authorities, clusters and schools to develop high quality sustainable extended services that contribute to overall improvement outcomes.
My previous career was that of a teacher/senior leader in four High schools taking in roles including Head of Drama, Head of English and Drama, Year Heads from 7 to 11, Pastoral Head, Senior Teacher, Assistant Head and Community Lead.
I focus on delivering bespoke support. For example, devising and delivering programmes that increase pupil engagement through provision of innovative curriculum and sustainable extended services. Other work involves devising effective policies, protocols and working between Children’s Centres and partner schools. I provide CPD in a range of areas to schools and local authorities as well as training for school governors.
Much of my work responds to the needs of a community . This entails providing advice on developing programmes that service the needs of all. An understanding of how establishing sustainable study support programmes will contribute to overall school improvement and the ability to quantify these are essential.
Increasingly the emphasis in academies is on cross phase solutions. This both eases the normal concerns associated with transition but also delivers real economies of scale that allow true freedoms to be associated with sustained school improvement.
The ability to articulate and deliver these visions to all in a school and local community are skills I value highly and ones in which I excel.
