I started in journalism at the fresh age of 16 and have worked on local and national newspapers, radio stations and news agencies.
Articles under my belt are as far reaching as political and health scandals to celeb
exposes and features on line dancing and boy bands (don\'t ask!)
In 2001 I moved into PR and Communications, working for one of the largest police forces in the county. Here I delivered press releases and sustained media campaigns, working with my contacts in the local media, on issues as far-reaching as car theft and murders to bringing down robbery levels, engaging with homeowners so they protect themselves from burglary and more.
While at the police, I also managed the media and wider communications (briefing senior officers and community stakeholders) during major incidents such as train and plane crashes and high profile murders - I was commended by the Chief Constable three times for such work. This has given me extensive experience in crisis management, so I can even turn my hand to emergency planning, media management in a crisis, training packages to prepare clients for media exposure and more.
I delivered websites to meet the information and reassurance needs of the media and general public alike and internal intranet sites to keep the boys in blue informed of what was expected of them.
I designed and produced newsletters that were directly mailed to residents and stakeholders to keep them informed on what was happening in their area.
The focus on considering all communication oppportunities remained with me when I moved to local government four years ago, where I am now a PR Manager.
I continue to produce engaging copy that secures extensive coverage in the media, but I also look at who else needs to know about the message I am helping to promote, and then adapt my approach accordinly - be that a newsletter, community roadshows, internet site or use of social networking and blogs.
Area Covered: work from home - cover all areas. Based in Wales
