I believe that I would be a suitable candidate for this job as I have a BA (Hons) degree from Central St Martins and have worked in the surface pattern industry for just over 20 years.
My experience is varied and has allowed me to work on all aspects of design and production. Not only have I been fortunate enough to have my art work produced by some of the country’s main retailers, but I have also had the chance to work with suppliers abroad.
I also am represented by a British studio (Corio studios) who sell my children’s embroidery designs both here and in the USA.
During the past ten years, I have continued to freelance in the USA, designing print designs for the home and fashion industries, while raising my children. Who are now aged 11, 10, and 7.
Over the past 20 years, I have worked with various companies on trends, mood boards and products used both in fashion and interior. I have a great passion for textiles, having had the experience of working with artisans in India on ranges, using various techniques to create the end design. I have also exhibited at some of the major shows, such as Himtex, Indigo and Surtex.
As a licensed freelance designer it has been a major part of my job to always keep up to date with the up and coming trends, and to adapt these to the client’s needs.
I am able to use CAD packages (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Corel Painter). I enjoy working with these packages but still use traditional methods as well.
