Work Experience Summary: Qatar Tribune, Doha
Joined the launch team of the daily English newspaper as Assistant Editor in May 2006.
• Helped draft the newspaper’s editorial style sheet and finalise its pagination and layout before its launch in September 2006.
• Conceptualised the newspaper’s feature and commentary sections, and oversaw their production for six months.
• As the head of the national news section now, my job includes developing story ideas with reporters, coaching young copy editors and coordinating with photographers and designers to oversee production.
• Cover arts & culture, political affairs and diplomacy myself, and write regular analyses and opinion pieces on local, regional and international developments.
• Covered major events around the Middle East, including the US-Islamic World Forum, meetings of the OPEC, the Doha Asian Games and the Dubai Gulf Art Fair.

Worked as Feature Writer/Online Content Editor with the daily newspaper (December 2004-December 2005). Responsibilities included overseeing the production of the daily Leisure’ section, and reporting on politics, diplomacy, arts & culture and tourism. Also oversaw the design, production and launch of the newspaper’s online edition, and later managed it as the head of a small team. I handled the newspaper’s opinion/analysis pages for three months too.
Indo-Asian News Service, New Delhi
Worked primarily as Content Editor with the news agency’s online division (Aug-Dec 2004). Heading a five-member team, was responsible for the editorial planning and day-to-day management of the agency’s online news projects. These included PlanetGuru (www.planetguru.com), MantraOnline (www.mantraonline.com) and South Asia Monitor (www.southasiamonitor.org). Also worked as Copy Editor on the desk, and did some special reports.
