I am a Translator and I carry out work from English into French, Italian,and Spanish (I have a post graduate diploma in Translations issued by the Institute of Linguists). Evermore...I am a Translator and I carry out work from English into French, Italian,and Spanish (I have a post graduate diploma in Translations issued by the Institute of Linguists). Ever since 2005 I have worked for the London Borough of Camden, the London Borough of Enfield, The Bigword and have carried out all sorts of freelance work in translations.
My rate is negotiable and is calculated according to the technicality of the work and to the amount of words that have been translated.
I also carry out interpreting to and from French, Italian, Spanish and English. Ever since I had my children I have been looking for phone interpreting business. I have gained successfully a DPSI from the Institute of Linguists and I am a professional in the field ever since 2001.

Work Experience Summary: TRANSLATION
2009: - Works as a free-lance translator for the “A Palazzo Gallery” an Italian Art Gallery for which I have translated the catalogue of an exhibition by John Stezaker (a British Artist). The project involved the translation of 7 different documents from English into Italian for a total of 10.000 words. Upon publication, the catalogue had been distributed in bookshops in both England and Italy.
2008: Works as a freelance translator for the University of Middlesex department of Sociology. The translations carried out covers European sociological projects, and are mainly questionnaires aimed at end users as well as at employees. Has translated a project for the European Criminal Justice system regarding drug use and sexually transmitted disease such as AIDS.
2006: - Works as a free-lance translator for the London Borough of Enfield. The translations carried out are generally social work from English into Italian.
2003: - Works as a free-lance translator for the London agency Kerry Recruitment. Translations carried out includes: a Touristy translation from French into Italian, for a company called Envergure, which is a French hotel chain that works internationally and which is merging with European companies. The brochure translated was to be presented to the Annual Meeting and was outlining the plan for unifying the Sales and Reservations department.
- Works as a free-lance translator for Rational Software, a Milanese IT company, for which translated from French into Italian, the following IT programmes: “Lotus Notes” and “Sometimes”. Also translated the security program from English into Italian “Itcs300 Security measures and use”. The power point format was used to train all the employees before merging with IBM.
2002-Present: - Works as a free-lance translator for The Big Word for which regularly translates social documents from English into Italian. Also works for the IND (Immigration and Nationalities Directorate) Project, which manly deals with prisoner’s transfers to and from the UK and Italy. Normally the file includes all the Police and Court reports and the UK piece of legislation relating to the crime, the prisoners declarations and the request for transfer of both the prisoner and the HMS Prison Services.
Within the same IND project translates documents from English into Italian for an agency called CICA, that establish compensation to people that had incidents such as the Lockerby airplane crash for which has translated the compensation request from two Italian citizens.
- Works as a free-lance translator for the Language Recruitment Services for which regularly translates architectural documents from English into Italian. Has participated to the translations of the documents needed for the tender held in Florence for the construction of the High Speed Train Station. The use of highly technical language was required for the translations of the section relating to doors and doorframes.
2001-Present: - Works as a free-lance translator for the London Borough of Camden, for which mainly translates social services documents from English, French and Spanish into Italian.
One of the main jobs done for this agency consisted of translating 48 booklets (each made of 1100 word for an approximate total of 52.000 words) for the Temporary Housing Group. The booklets describe the future house and all the services provided by the Group and by the community.
Regularly translates from English into Italian the “The Golden Gazette”, a publication that comes out four times a year and for the elderly that lives in sheltered housing. Every document is made of approximately 4000/5000 words.
Also translates different documents all relating to Social Services.
2000-1: - Employed by Sovereign Media House -London, England - as a Sales person. My tasks in this publishing company consisted of Translating all the script and objections, finding the leads for the Italian market, phoning Managing directors, and Marketing directors to propose an Internet space in the three publications of the company.
2002-Present: - Works as a free-lance interpreter for The Big Word, for which, among others, carries out a consecutive interpreting in a Psychiatric Conference which outlined the way of treating mentally ill patience according to the Italian law.
Also carries out voiceovers, and is the voice of one of the documents for the IND project regarding the testing for drugs in UK prisons.
2001-5: - Works as a free-lance interpreter for the Multilingual Service Interpreting Agency, that delivers linguistic services to Public Services. Specialises in Legal and Medical interpreting, and mainly deals with mentally ill patience, Refugees with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, drug addicts, alcoholics and illegal immigrants. The interpreting is generally in consecutive, although occasionally the use of the simultaneous and chouchotage techniques are required for short period of time. The languages normally used are English, French and sometimes Spanish. Delivers also Certified Translations of certificates, police reports and other legal documents.
- Works regularly as a free-lance interpreter for the London Borough of Camden. Generally deals with Medical related cases such as AIDS, pregnancy, and illnesses of the elderly; legally related cases concerning housing, such as the translation of the tenancy agreement; Local Governments related issues such as liasing with parents and teachers in Education.
OTHER EDUCATIONAL WORK
1996: - Works for several years as a private English teacher. Writes a manual for the preparation of the I.E.L.T. exam used with the students. The manual is divided in 5 different sections: Listening, Writing, Translating, Reading e Grammar.
1990: - Employed for two years by the Berlitz Language Center of Milan, as a PA to the District Director of Northern Italy. Also teaches Italian in one of the centres in Milan and cooperates with the Linguistic department for the creation of new teaching manuals.
OTHER LINGUISTIC EXPERIENCES
2001: - Co-founder and coordinator of “Il Circolo”, a group of translators from English into Italian that meets once a week to discuss translation’s theory, to compile glossaries, to discuss terminology in technical translations, to discuss theories behind proofreading and all sorts of problems encountered by the professional translators while working. During winter 2001-2002 organises a stage of 6 months on the translation of Tourist Guides; the following year the stage was centred onto the translation of “Wordfast: translation of the manual and practical applications in translations. At the end of each year a merged glossary of all participants was assembled and distributed to all.
2001-Present: - Employed by the London Borough of Camden first as an Administration and Finance Officer for Community Care Group, Temporary Housing Group and Shelter Housing Team and then as a Customer Service Officer for Holborn District Housing Office. Tasks: general office and Reception duties. Providing information to the public on all type of services connected with housing and adult social care.
1988-1990: - Employed by Direct Marketing Ad Hoc • Milan, Italy •as Telemarketer successively promoted Supervisor. My tasks consisted in training telemarketers, monitoring the jobs of the centre, reporting to the department Manager on the efficiency of the operations, preparing and analysing data of every day work.
