I have a Bachelor of Arts Joint Honours degree in Marketing with Writing and Publishing Studies and also hold two professional marketing qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM).
I have a professional manner working with people of different levels from Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Director Generals, Councillors, journalists, suppliers and colleagues. I have worked closely with senior management to advise on high profile communications strategies. I have also effectively built relationships with hard to reach audiences to find out the most effective way outside of traditional channels to engage, communicate and deliver key messages.
I have successfully delivered a number of strategic marketing campaigns including the Schools at the Heart Paralympics event for the Learning Trust, where I project led an event to promote sports inclusion for children. I commissioned research to discover what people knew about the Paralympics and interpreted the results to benchmark the campaign and position the Trust as pioneer of sports inclusion in London and regional areas. Newspapers, television, websites, magazines, radio and shared networking were used to gain phenomenal success of the three day event with international television coverage by the BBC London News, ITV News and China News. I also gained celebrity support and participation from Sky TV’s Gladiators who took part in a wheelchair basketball event against the Hackney Sparrows. Additional coverage included local and national newspapers, live radio interviews with an appointed spokesperson by BBC Bristol and other regional areas and online coverage including BBC Radio London. Also it was a great platform for networking with the Office of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association and the London Development Agency.
I have significant experience of working with clients and third party suppliers to produce a range of corporate materials from publications, posters, signage, programmes, invitations, motion film and web design. I have excellent attention to detail including proofing, knowledge of print resolution and promoting consistency to a client’s brief throughout the production works. I have a thorough understanding of diversity and equality in government including understanding media law and best practice.
I understand communication impact, reach and frequency from advertising, hoardings, radio, motion film, websites as well as non traditional channels for underrepresented groups or hard to reach audiences such as GP surgeries, libraries, school notice boards, places of worship, community forums and other front facing buildings. I also understand the importance of introducing new media channels such as social networking, mobile phones, podcasts, blogs and interactive websites.
I remain calm and focused under pressure including line managing a team, managing reactive issues, interpreting confidential or sensitive information, implementing contingency plans, pitching ideas to senior management and/or external audiences, and project managing print or agency suppliers. I project manage a number of complex workloads through planning, prioritising, and delegating to team members with the appropriate skill set. I am numerate and can budget value for money resources including negotiating with third party suppliers.
I create cost effective measurement of campaigns to ensure key message are received such as tracking web page hits, launching prize quizzes or puzzles, or conducting research through focus groups, telephone surveys, online poll votes and face to face workshops.
