I am Ricardo, a young Brazilian graduated in Chemistry at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) in Halle (Saale) – Germany. Currently I work as a post-doc and scientific editor at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB), in a part-time. My tasks involve development of research projects, elaboration and proofreading of scientific publications drafts and translation of documents and proposals to support Brazil – Germany cooperation projects. At the same time, I work as a ´freelancer Brazilian Portuguese translator (English-Portuguese, German-Portuguese, Spanish-Portuguese or Italian-Portuguese). I have experience (3 years in translation business), good domain of the languages pairs and very competitive rates. In other words, I believe a partnership between us would be very fruitful for both sides. By hiring me, you are not just hiring a translator, you are also hiring a scientist (PhD). In other words, by hiring me you get, quality (scientific publications standard), punctuality, accuracy, a trained eye for the smallest details, critical analysis (I can identify mistakes into your source text and correct them before translating) and much more!
Let me tell you a bit more about myself: since the beginning of my career as a scientist and author, I have gained significant experience in producing, proofreading and translating scientific publications. I took time to learn how “to sell” my ideas, communicating my results with accuracy and being succinct at the same time. The efforts paid off when I realize that 14 out of my 20 publications have been written by myself and the first one recently reached 46 citations (source: Web of Science). I also took part in the elaboration of 4 book chapters, a patent, research projects and grant applications in both English and Portuguese languages. It was even more grateful when I got invitations to become an editorial member of the scientific journals: Open Catalysis Journal, Recent Patents on Catalysis, Current Catalysis and The Open Conference Proceedings Journal. I have also acted as referee for The Journal of Brazilian Chemical Society, Letters in Organic Chemistry, Journal of Advanced Research and Tetrahedron. From this point on my attention to the smallest details has increased, considering my responsibility to ensure the quality of the publicatiosn submitted to my appreciation. Besides, I have also written texts for publication in the website organic chemistry portal (http://www.organic-chemistry.org/Highlights/ultrasound.shtm) and, voluntarily, some advertisement texts for my family businesses in Brazil. My family owns a real estate and a digital media / e-commerce company). I did also some freelance-based translation works (EN-PT or PT-EN) for some individuals. Currently, I am working with some translation agencies as well. I have translated texts related to general content, web content, science, construction, real estate, finance, CVs, resumes, cover letters and advertisement material. If your text is not within these fields, no problem let me have a look on it and I tell you in a moment whether I can translate it or not.
In summary, I have presented a short overview about myself and about what I can offer to you. In my opinion, our interests match very well and a partnership between us would be wonderful for both sides. If my profile attracts your interest, please give me a call or send me an e-mail. It would be a pleasure to talk to you.
