Work Experience Summary: Combating Obesity Ltd: non-executive Director of Huddersfield-based training provider and consultancy specialising in obesity awareness for education, health and social care professionals.
Whilst sharing accountability for the management and business development of the organisation and having responsibility for governance and HR issues, my particular interest is obesity discrimination and bullying in the workplace.
I worked on a freelance basis for the following organisations in Huddersfield:
The Nerve Centre: as Development Worker I played a major role in securing Big Lottery Funding (£175k) for this independent charity supporting people with neurological conditions. Secured other sources of funding, provided a full administrative service, obtained registered charity and limited company status, produced full range of HR policies and procedures, organised training, designed and produced newsletters and other publicity materials, represented the Nerve Centre at many events, liaised with council, NHS and other health and social care professionals.
As non-executive Director (2006-07) undertook complete review of employment contracts, job descriptions, volunteer management and induction, supervision of staff, health & safety audit, secured funding for marketing consultancy, drafted revised business plan and drafted design of training session aimed at highlighting responsibilities and roles of board members. Completed a full review of all HR policies and procedures.
Kirklees Older People\'s Network: provided a full administrative service supporting network of older people\'s organisations, organised events, managed meetings and represented the Network in meetings with council, NHS and other health and social care professionals.
Voluntary Action Kirklees: worked with the Community Empowerment Team mapping service provision for the sector and strategic planning to raise the profile and value of the voluntary sector.
Community Work Training Co: promoted free training and learning delivery to voluntary and community groups. Undertook training needs analyses, developed business plans and drafted job descriptions and person specifications.
