I have been working with computers since 1981. This has included data entry, word processing, desktop publishing, database construction, spreadsheets and web design. I have been using the internet since 1993 and Word and Excel for almost as long.

I have had many administrative/secretarial positions since leaving business college. I have worked in the areas of reception, finance, IT, data entry, secretary, personal assistant and management.

I have strong numeracy and literacy skills. In regard to literacy, I would point out that I passed my English degree with distinction. I have a published story and I have worked freelance as a proofreader. I have been responsible for writing and editing reports and I was also assistant editor of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australia journal for one year.

My numeracy skills have been developed by an early career in bookkeeping for accountancy firms, looking after debtor and creditors accounts and budgeting and finance in my office management positions. I was most recently a finance assistant at Blean Primary for 3 years.

Summary: After leaving school I worked in accountancy firms as a bookkeeper for 6 years before returning to full-time education to do a BA degree. Whilst studying, I took several and varied temporary administrative positions.

In 1993, I worked freelance for the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Western Sydney as a data base designer and information systems developer. After graduating, I took an administrative job at the Centre for Learning and Teaching, University of Technology, Sydney. After one year, I was appointed Manager. I left this post to take up the same position at the newly launched Institute for Multimedia Learning at the same university. I was manager from its launch in 1995, until leaving in June 1997 to start my own web site design business.

I moved to Denmark in 2001 when my (then) husband took a post at a Danish university. Here I completed a 2-year course in Danish Language and Culture. In October 2003, I had a short story published by Australian publisher Global Exchange, in a collection called Australian Expats: stories from abroad.

In January 2005, I moved to the UK when my ex-husband took up a position at the University of Kent. From September 2005 until April 2006, I studied for a Certificate in Higher Education in European Business.

I worked at Blean Primary School for 3 years as a Finance Assistant and I now work freelance as a proofreader of PhDs.
