Hi, my name is Priyanka and I am a journalist with experience in some of the world's best newsrooms including The Wall Street Journal, Hindustan Times, Haymarket Group'smore...Hi, my name is Priyanka and I am a journalist with experience in some of the world's best newsrooms including The Wall Street Journal, Hindustan Times, Haymarket Group's PR Week and Campaign magazines, Longitude Research, among others.
For the past two years I have been working full-time as the content editor for Cision, a leading communications firm in central London, where I am responsible for leading the company’s content and communications strategy. This includes writing, commissioning, editing and managing all content and communication on behalf of the company including the blog and marketing collateral.
As part of my job role, I maintain daily coverage of the marketing, PR and communications sector through both news updates and in-depth analysis. I am also responsible for creating all marketing communications including advertising, email marketing, webinars, whitepapers, testimonials and case studies. To support the overall content strategy, I measure and monitor web traffic using analytical tools.
I also manage Cision UK’s online community through daily social media monitoring and engagement through interactions with internal stakeholders, clients, prospects and the wider online community.
Prior to Cision, I was a freelance writer for Haymarket Group’s Campaign, Media Week and PR Week magazines. My responsibilities included writing and reporting news on the advertising and media sectors in the UK.
I also served as a freelance writer and researcher for an editorial agency called Longitude Research. My daily duties included reporting, writing, proofreading, and editing articles, reports and whitepapers for our clients that included A-grade companies such as the Economist Intelligence Unit, Ernst & Young, Accenture, Siemens, KPMG, to name a few. I maintained a weekly blog on environmental issues and sustainability and world issues.
Before moving to the UK, I was working as a reporter for Mint, India’s second largest financial newspaper which is the exclusive content partner to the Wall Street Journal in the country. At Mint, I was the media, marketing and brands expert. I covered the business of media, sports and advertising and was entirely responsible for writing; planning and editing the content of the newspaper’s weekly advertising and marketing supplement Campaign for two years.
Before Mint, my work experience at News India-Times in New York helped me develop my interpersonal and time management skills as I had to work in teams of people who lived in various parts of the world from Canada to East Asia. In addition, the newspaper’s production was outsourced to India, and my role as the chief liaison between the two offices taught me to manage people and time efficiently.
My work experience as the editor-in-chief of my college newspaper, the Echo was perhaps what gave me the zest for journalism. Being the only international student in the college newspaper, it was a challenging yet unforgettable learning experience which I believe has helped shape me into the outgoing, open-minded and hardworking individual that I am today.
My education and overall work experience has taught me to work under extremely tight deadlines in very challenging conditions with little room for error. I have learnt the importance of teamwork and how critical it is to the success of a project.
I hope I was able to demonstrate some of the qualities why I believe I am the right candidate for this position and I am confident that I will successfully fulfill any expectations if given the opportunity. I really appreciate your taking time out to read about me and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
